how do you fire the gun in vr?

so i recently got the f/a 18 and its great, i dont have a hotas but thats fine because i like having money. so i tried to attack some ground targets, my gun was ready, i was on a/g and my master arms switch was on but when i flew down and it told me i was in range, i squeezed the trigger and nothing happened. i looked it up and saw something about a second trigger but obviously my quest 2 controllers dont have that. help would be appreciated.

and pls do not tell me to get a hotas or read the 5 billion page manual

All AA munitions as well as the gun is fired using the "Gun Trigger".
If there´s a "Gun Trigger 2nd stage" in your list - that´s what you want. There is no "1st stage" on the DCS F18 - so i don´t quite know why the control settings shows it that way...

Be aware that there also is a "weapon release" button, not to be confused with above.

First at all i would check if the trigger on the in game stick is move, while you press a button on yours controllers, what you thinks it should work as trigger. If the animations of moving triggers works, then you know you have bind it correct and something is wrong in the process of activete guns in game. If the in game trigger is not moving, then you will know there is something wrong in binding buttons.

you can also open control settings and press the button. It should show you the bound function.
If it doesn't, it either is not bound to anything or isn't recognised.

Ok, I won't. You already know, though. ;)

When in A-G mode in the Hornet you will by default get the STORES page open on your left DDI (the screen with a lot of function buttons around it) - there you need to press the button next to where the screen says GUN. When the outline around the GUN is displayed that means your gun is now ready to be used using the joystick trigger.



So, activate A-G, press GUN in STORES page, press trigger to shoot the gun.

You don't have to read the whole manual. Just the part about thing you are looking for. Page 259 in DCS FA-18C Early Access Guide EN

I've found it in 2 minutes. Just opened manunal, was browsing in the captcher list, there I've found the "HORNET AIR-TO-GROUND (A/G)" captcher and in it the "A/G Gun SMS Page" subcaptcher. I did click on the captcher title and it automatically listed the page with desired captcher.

Thank you but my problem was that even with all of what you said done it doesn't fire

then try to describe it more detailed.
Have you checked what i wrote ? Which steps do you take exactly? What does the bindings tell you ?

I just tried replicating it with G2 and the vr controller... Yep, trigger moves but doesn't fire the gun in either A-G or A-A modes. I didn't find a fix, sadly.

5. Space-bar on keyboard to fire ( you can rebind the key to your VR controller)

The keybind name to Fire (spacebar) is called
"Gun Trigger - SECOND DETENT (Press to shoot)"

No, When in A/A mode, the Gun Trigger (second detent) will fire missiles, or GUN if in gun mode,

ok so ive found both of those keyboards but there doesnt seem to be a way for it to be binded to my quest 2 controllers
