DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

intel 12th gen and DCS
anyone running a 12th gen with DCS - how is it going? any issues ?

Was looking at trying to get a 3080ti and then looking at more ram etc which then got me looking at 12th gen and ddr5 with a 3080ti etc - but I read that DCS may work beter with less cores but faster speeds ie 11th gen.

I have a 9700kf with 2080super 16gb which runs DCS ok in VR but clearly be nice to max out the settings hence man maths at play to change just the GPU then the RAM then why not a 12th gent etc.

Because the Alder lake should have the highest IPC, it should be the best for DCS for now.
I had a mild improvement going from 9900k @ 5.2 to a 12900k @ 5.4-5.5.

3090 Kingpin GPU. Seems to still be limited now by the game's engine more than anything. My CPU frametime did improve some, VR maybe subjectively smoother, but don't expect huge gains from 9th gen to 12th. I had huge improvements from Ivy-E bridge to 9900k, but this was much less of a jump.
You'll need a new MB as well.

thank you - yes with the CPU i agree will make little difference for DCS- I think the best gain will be from the 2080super to the 3080ti and also the 16ram to 32 ram plus ssd's.

I guess that the best decision, is to wait for a "Vulkan" implementation. Because nothing will change the thing in a serious way. The graphics and physics engine of DCS World has reached their limits for a technology they used, and they just need to use a new technology to make the game run better. I guess that even not so new CPUs and GPUs would able to run the game significantly better when the "Vulkan" will be released. At least I hope it will be like this. Otherwise it is just a dead end road. Otherwise I can't even imagine which PC will run this game smooth with a full graphics in a couple of years? A NASA or a Google supercomputer? I mean "Eagle Dynamics" have a real problem here and it must to be solved somehow. Otherwise it's a road to nowhere.
