Saitek X55 Throttle Axis' Problems
Hi all, i recently downloaded DCS World to try out with my new Saitek X55 HOTAS. I am having a problem however with my throttle axis and it seems to be in only this game it happens, it doesn't occur in War Thunder, iL2: CLOD, Elite: Dangerous.

When i'm setting my controls up ingame, it detects both the throttle and joystick as it gives me two seperate collums to map buttons to, three if you include the default controls.

When trying to set the throttle axis it reports back as Axis X, not Axis RX as it should be. However when fiddle with the 4 Rotaries on the Throttle they are being reported as RX, RY, RZ etc.

Does anyone know of a solution to getting the throttle to be read correctly ingame?

Using the Toggle switches and different modes in-game work fine as does the joystick. Only the Throttle and the other axied controls are causing issue.

Hi, check my screenshot, are you able to select the axis manually in the drop down menu? Also I don't own a X55 but on my TM Hotas Warthog Joystick and Throttle are different controls.

Edit: Just to make sure, you are trying to set them in "Axis Commands" ? (see on my screen right next to SU-25T)

edit2: forgot the screen :) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=257332256

These are the options i get.

Sometimes if i move the throttle fast enough to stop abruptly at 110% it will sometimes report back as Joy_Y instead of Joy_X as it does at the moment.

I'm guessing its a driver/software issue from Saiteks end?

Could be, is the stick officialy released by now?

Btw on your screenshot you are selecting the Thrust axis. Does the Thrust Left axis and Thrust right axis work correctly? And did you try it ingame?

The Logitech G940 is also reporting back JOY_X/Y axis with the throttle so it can be the way they designed the Axis.
Yeah the X55 was released last month in the UK as far as i'm aware? I ordered it on the 2nd of May from the Mad Catz UK Store (GameShark) and got it on the 6th, it would have been soon but weekend and bank holiday.

However, i've just given it a blast with the Thrust Left and Thrust Right and its the exact same deal.
Are you having issues besides the naming of the axes? Technically, that does not matter. Set throttles to slider in "axis tune", invert if you have to, they should work fine.
That's the problem though ARGH, I don't have a Slidder option. Elite: Dangerous which is in Alpha still recognises all of the Axis' properly.

I'm only getting options for the 3 Joystick Axis (X, Y and Z) and 3 of the Axis for the rotaries (RX, RY and RZ) and if I remember correctly one of the other rotary Axis comes up as Joy_Y.

I'm at work at the moment so can't have a look at it at the moment l but it seems most likely a driver issue, I'm going to report it to Saitek and DCS developers when I get home at 7pm.

what the feck, I've been looking for the rhino since Febuary. Apparantly its not going on sale untill next week where I live. Globalization is great except when capitalism and big corps don't want it (NOT LOOKING TO START AN IDEOLOGICAL DISCUSSION)

On topic: Can you reverse the axis in the saitek software? (If I'm understanding the problem that is..)
I must be explaining myself wrong?

The throttle is being recognised as a actual joystick input and not as a throttle unit input. So if i set use the throttle slider for Thrust, it will come up as Joy_X which is infact the X Axis on my stick. So when i use the throttle it will move the ailerons instead.
Nah it was just me being stupid, not understanding your problem. Try beta-branch of DCS maybe? I have no idea. But I'm know ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to be honest...
Sorry if you've already figured this out, but DCS has two seperate columns for the stick and throttle. The Right is the throttle, the Left is the stick. If you have your pitch commands in the throttle portion, your controls will be wonky. Hopefully this helps you/anyone else who has this problem.
Edit: Had the columns backward

Yeah i managed to sort it in the end. I can't remember what the problem was but i think it was something to do with what you suggested. I haven't played DCS in a while due to having hard drive issues (on my 3rd windows reinstall since May) but if i remember, due to the HOTAS' name being so long, it was hard to read what column was what.

Hopefully thats been fixed?

Hovering mouse cursor over the name of column shows full name in a tooltip now.

Tooltip also seems to show GUID for device information and so on.
I have an X55 as well (loving it so far) and yes the left throttle is detected as X (or Y) and the right as the other direction. This isn't an issue though as your joystick and throttle are detected as two entirely different controllers so the X axis on one won't step on the other. If you are playing games with a single throttle just make sure you raise one of the two throttles so you only get one axis for the control. After that you can raise both at the same time so long as you don't link the other throttle to something. Anyway hope this helps, but from what I've seen it appears to be working as intended.

Have fun! It's a great stick and really made A-10c and Black Shark much more enjoyable. Also it's nice only having to load a profile once when I turn on my PC (I liked a button to center my TrackIR) rather than for each aircraft and different sims/games. Having to switch between my A-10 profile and BS profile sucked and since the profiles had to use keypresses rather than buttons/sliders it could cause issues where I would forget that a slider was activating a button and so it would continue to broadcast that button whether I was in game or not, or in another game!
I have had the same problem and found a crude solution to it, move the rotery switch G to the max if you are twisting it towards you, this fixed the problem for me but I am unable to use the switch, howerver it does still work as a button. Hope this helps!
I need help with my x55 that I bought and now I will start flying the Ka-50 in DCS is there anyone here who you can talk to for help and explain what my problem is my English is not so good when I write
