Thanks for the info, things sometimes break when there are changes but now that devs know what to look for they can fix the problem. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem but it can be added to FAQ/troubleshooting guide now as a thing to try if same problem occurs with someone else.
1) Yes, unfortuantely it does not work with the space key in the training mission. This is because the interactive training missions will listen for the space key to perform another function - that of manually causing the narration to proceed. This causes a sort of override on any function that is bound to spacebar.
2) I have been unable to cause this to create permanent issues: that is, the problem only occurs inside the actual training mission.
I've implemented and tested a fix for that mission, I'll start investigating if it applies to more missions.
Unrelated:
Instead of posting a new thread thought I would ask here, how do you enable clickable cockpit buttons so I can look and click to switch various controls in cockpit view? I read that you can do with with left alt c but I tried and doesn't switch anything. Seems more handy and immersive to actually look at and switch a function than simply using button combos.
A-10C (note: A-10C, NOT the A-10A Flaming Cliffs!)
Ka-50 Black Shark 2
P-51D
UH-1H
Mi-8MTV2
Flaming Cliffs 3 also does not have clickable cockpit - instead it offers several aircraft at a level of modeling similar to the free Su-25T. Flaming Cliffs 3 also does include the "A-10A Flaming Cliffs" and "Su-25 Flaming Cliffs" DLC's.
The "clickable" pits are part of the higher detail of systems and avionics modeling that is done for the "study" modules. Price is correspondingly higher.
That said, if you want to try something more "hardcore" that lets you learn the plane really well, I'd definitely recommend the A-10C module (again though: note the C :) ). It's an almost complete (some "sekrit" stuff removed) Suite 3 A-10C, based on the DTS made for USANG conversion training. If you're running on keyboard you'd probably want to get some kind of joystick first, though, because the amount of controls goes up exponentially on those more advanced ones. (It'll still work, of course, but might get confusing to keep track of the myriad hatswitches the real one has on HOTAS through keyboard.).
This is like the DCS P-51D Module, except no guns, no combat radio and center tank is removed. It might be a troublesome bird to fly on keyboard, but it is "clickable". :)
LAlt+c switches between "mouse look" and "mouse cursor" mode so it's no incorrect, just that the module has nothing to switch with "mouse cursor" at the moment..
Like Tatsue already mentioned the high fidelity modules support clickable cockpits and there's many more on the way by Eagle Dynamics, ED partners and 3rd party developers.
This spring/summer we should see Hawk, Mig-21bis, F-86 and AH-1 releases but there are no confirmed release dates yet. Hornet is on the horizon somewhere too ;)
I doubt that you will buy anything DCS.
There's already a good amount of modules.
Saying that you will buy something that doesn't exist, and is not even planned, is absurd.
It's like saying, I will definitely get a joystick when the F-22 module comes out..
Assuming that with click-able pit it's going to somehow make it easier for you is false.
You won't be able to start the engines, because no patience.
My prediction is that you will give up, if not already, and move on to easy arcade games like War Thunder, that have nothing to do with realism, but do provide an instant gratification that would suit you perfectly.
DCS requires a certain problem-solving mindset.
That's why it's not a game, it's a simulator. There's work involved.
You don't actually start having real fun until everything you do becomes a second nature.
That's at least a year of flying per aircraft.
You have to have a joystick, period.
Out of curiosity, as before, I attempted the weapons training, and it worked like a charm.
There are no bugs, it works great, if you follow it properly, and with a joystick.
If you are struggling with the basic controls and it's already annoying, it's just not for you.
You either get your mind into problem-solving mode or give up now.
