DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

Physical Copy
I purchased a physical DVD of LockOn Platinum, is it possible to activate Flaming Cliffs and Lock On on Steam if I own the physical media? I tried the serial that was included but it didn't seem to work unless I was doing it wrong.

LockOn Platinum unfortunately only comes with Flaming Cliffs 2. To add to DCS World you need Flaming Cliffs 3.

No, it won't work. Sorry to tell you, but you purchased an obsolete version of Lock On - that was released even before the DCS series. Sell it on eBay or something, and buy Flaming Cliffs 3 from Steam/Eagle Dynamics if you want the cross-module multiplayer that DCS World has. What you have right now is Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 2, which does not work with DCS World.

Thanks for the prompt responses guys. Can you tell me what the key advantages of FC3 are over FC2? Are the graphics notably better? I assume multiplayer is better given its more current but the aircraft seem almost identical so what is better about FC3 vs FC2 and will a notivce to the game still get value out of FC2? Or are they very different?

FC3 is compatible with DCS world. This basically means that you can be flying as an F15 whilst escorting a friend which could be an A10C.
Graphics wise, the F15C has a new cockpit. You can download DCS world for free and check youself.
Also FC3 has new flight physics and improved physics.
Hope I helped :)

About the new flight physics, I don't think its implemented yet. Advanced Flight Models for the F-15 and the Su-27 are currently works in progress. I believe the F-15's AFM will be out late March or so.

A-10A did get a new flight model. Su-25 and A-10A has also gotten new cockpits compared to FC2. F-15C has new cockpit, and pits/AFM are en route for Flanker and 33.
