Free Helicopter

Just thought i would see what everyone thought if they released a free helicopter with the same kind of cockpit as the Su-25T. I'm thinking that it could be a OH-6 so they dont have a lot of firepower and they can't carry very many troops(when they are officially loadable).

Making This may get them more sales on the helicopters so maybe we could get more heli's developed for us to play.

Before you call me cheap I do already own all three helicopters and am waiting on news about the AH-1G.

That won't matter since huge amount of work is used on modeling avionics, flight model, damage model and so on. Actual 3D model is actually pretty small amount of work compared to all the other work involved to make it accurate.

A free heli would of course be nice, but DCS actually has a lot of free content already (certainly compared to most games, and certainly more than anything else in the sim space that's not pay to play MMO), and then something like an OH-6 couldn't be that rubbish as it would put people off.

I guess a 'timed demo' of modules might be possible one day, but it's hard to gauge if that would actually make people buy more stuff or not. A 30 mins in the P-51 as a timed demo might put people off, as it takes that long to realize you need to trim the rudder to the right or you'll crater the runway everytime etc..

Yeah a timed demo would really be better but it would have to be at least two hours since it takes about 5 to 20 mins to get somewhere to shoot.

I know it takes a lot of work to do anything in most games. But i thought it would be something to talk about instead of the same subjects coming up about problems and what plane would you like to see. This may have been brought up before but i have not seen it.



I thought i'd ask if anyone heard of the free P-51D Civilian version with no weapons. Someone posted a link to the post that said this it was in russian so i had to use a translator. I know that translators are pretty bad sometimes so i'm wondering if anyone heard anything. Edit this was on the DCS forums.
