Flaming cliffs 3, good for noobs?
It says on the store page that FC3 is a good place for new players. Is this true?
I have other titles, such as A10-C, Huey and black shark 2, but I kind of suck at them.
I can fly the helis to some extent, but I have real trouble operating the weapons in the KA-50 in sim mode.
I am terrible in the A10-C and can't even complete the 180 degree turn in the tutorial flight, keeping the plane level while turning. I have no idea how the weapons operate, and have been scared away from the game since my shameful attempt at the tutorial.
I do enjoy flying the helis, and love the look of this.
If it is slightly easier to get into, I think it would be a good stepping stone for me to get me used to the planes, so I can use the A10-C a bit more.
Please tell me whether it would be worth me getting this, or if I should just stick to the heli sims instead.

The Flaming Cliffs differ in that they don't have clickable cockpits and that fewer 'system' things inside the aircraft are modelled. Once you learn the few keys then it's a lot easier to get going.

One tip would be to see how you do with the free base DCS Su25T, and if you manage that ok then you'll probably love the FC3 set.

There's some really good Su25T intro guides here:

I thought the SU25 in DCS world was more detailed, like the A10-C?
I did try that, had a bit more luck than the A10-C, but had read that it had been upgraded to a more realistic model since then?

Yep, good point - the Su25T does have an 'Advanced Flight Model' and 6DOF cockpit like the A10C (so you can look around it using head-trackers like TrackIR). It's still Flaming Cliffs I guess because of the unclickable cockpit and the way systems are modelled inside.

So it was just updated with AFM and 6DOF? Because I am sure it didn't have them when I tried the SU25 before.
I really like the F-15 in FC3, and the mig29 looks awesome.
One other thing; are there any campaigns for FC3? Or is it just for quick missions and multiplayer?

I think Flaming Cliffs is a great way to make the transition into a study simulator. I played the F-15C in Flaming Cliffs quite a lot, and it helped transitioning into Falcon BMS's F-16 Block 52 significantly easier. BMS is the DCS equivalent of the F-16 by the way.

It taught me the fundamentals of A-A systems which will be useful if you plan to buy the upcoming DCS Eurofighter, F-15E, F-15C, or the F-18C modules.

Yes, there is a campaign for FC3.

Just be warned, a failure to complete a level 180' turn in the A-10 won't be helped much by FC3. There is a basic level of flying skill required to function in all of these modules.

Being new there's no shame. Its meant to be realistic and real pilots spend countless hours learning, and you're flying alone.
