Umm.. 1920/1080=16:9 so you shouldn't use 4:9 anyway..

The reason it has that number is possibly due to minor bug with Oculus Rift support.
You can ignore that value if you have correct resolution and looks ok.

you maybe able to force different aspect ratio by editing some files in the DCS folder but 16:9 is gonna look the best at 1920x1080

Yeah, your going to have to edit the files to try and set a custom resolution. I don't know if thats possible or not. You might try asking on the main DCS forums.

sorry i meant 16:9 not 4:9. any idea why when 16:9 is selcted and then you come out and go back into options its giving that 1.777777778 ratio instead of 16:9 i selected?

It is just a bug. It appeared when Oculus Rift support was added.

You can ignore it if all looks ok.

I have the same bug. I had to check but yeah everything looks ok at 1920x1080 and the 1.777777778 thing is just a bug.

It's not really a bug, 1.778 is the same as 16:9.
Dividide 1920 by 1080 = 1.778
Dividide 16 by 9 = 1.778

man you got some social skills!

although is the OP wanting to force different aspect for some reason? maybe he wishes 4:9 ratio so things are just bigger. (only reason i can think of)

actually i read every comment that is on the page and "I don't really care" seemed to lack any social tact in my opinion but whatever

Its just a display bug... in the lua code they could just add a line that says if aspectratio = 1.7777778 then displayratio = "16:9" or something....

such a minor thing to worry about but still it is a bug afterall and something that should get fixed eventually to save from all the confusion.

edit: I made a pun by mistake "a display bug" :P

Lol, its not a bug. 1.77777~ is the same as 16:9, just stated in a different format. Some people use the ratio form, others use the decimal form. Mathematically the same thing.
Chameleon_Silk Jun 30, 2014 @ 11:15pm
well you would never see a displayed marketed as a 1.777778 display ratio thats just silly, they would say 16:9 aspect, like i said easy to change with the LUA code i provided already I probably could add it and fix it myself if i really wanted to if I toyed around enough.

but you are right its not technically a bug but no ones gonna get that 1.77778 is correct aspect for 16:9 displays we aren't all mathematicians here and therefore it would be nice to have it convert to ratio for known aspects.

funny that even a 16:9 display can cause people to argue lol imagine if you had WMD's were all be dead and any living people would be formatting each other in the ass to survive. thanks anyway.

Nitpicking but here goes.. Mathematically they are not same as the decimal format is rounded and has slight error in last decimal due to it. 16:9 division format is always accurate, but limited by what computers can use from it.
In practice both are rounded to the same value so no actual difference but theoretically speaking they are not the same.

Oh, you haven't been to the main DCS forums yet. Make sure your driving heavy armor with NBC protection addons (especially if you try to debate with some of the mods).
Its pretty polite here.
