Can't edit joystick buttons???
I have a Logitech extreme 3D pro. I cannot edit the controls for it. When I click on a key and try to assign it to my stick or any button, the add button is gray. What the hell. How do I edit buttons on my joystick? They completely messed up all profiles with the update, and noone has posted any .dff.lua profiles, old ones won't load at all, and I cant even assign commands to my joystick. So I can't even play with my joystick now? I bought a joystick a week ago just for this game and It hasn't worked once. Help????

This game is infuriating.

Ummm...from your screen shot...maybe...you have to click on the cell under the controller for the control you want to change. ii.e. click on the cell where "screenshot" and "Logitec" intersect. Then click 'add'. Then hit the button on the stick. Is it that or am I missing something?

FYI I don't have any problems assigning buttons.

I know that. I can rebind keyboard controls fine. I've installed the Logitech software, deleted the save games folder, and just reinstalled the whole damn game. Nothing works now. Can't rebind joystick controls, and can't load profiles.

I've never tried using profiles, so I can't help you there.

The ED forums get a lot more traffic. Maybe poke around there: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=96

try reseting your config files for DCS

rootdrive\Users\YourUserName\Saved Games\DCS

then rename your config folder to Config.bak and it will get recreated next time you open the game and then see if you can add buttons.

this is a common problem when devices change and/are unplugged and replugged back in, hope it helps.

hang in there i know sometimes unforeseen problems put a damper on things but DCS really is the finest of its type right now.

Double click the cell in the table.
Does it do it for all of them?
Some functions like Screenshot, you may not be able to map to the joystick.
Im not able to map it to the mouse.
And, according to the screenshot, you do not have the cell selected but only the column.

You can also move or delete the folder and it will regenerate it with defaults:
C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\

Umm.. What? The planes are different but FC3 systems modeling is "simple" SSM. If you want the clickable cockpits look for a plane with "advanced" systems modeling ASM.
That is a limitation of the older models upgraded to DCS from old Lomac/Flaming Cliffs series.

It is a great thing that DCS has a diverse selection of aircraft for everyone, whether you like to spend months learning the basics in a study simulation with click-able pit or use HOTAS and get into the action sooner with a more simplified systems model.
The pits are still 6DOF 3D and animated with the systems visually functioning.
As well as accurately modeled.

And the default controls have been worked on for 20 years since the Flanker series.
I am very much used to it and it allows a wide customization.

All the aircraft in DCS are the most realistic publicly available simulation on PC to date.

There's really absolutely nothing to complain about but to wait for its steady progress.

ya your welcome was the fix I posted about 3 hrs after you requested help, there is absolutley nothing wrong with the way DCS does its controls, and its not DCS worlds fault if deviceIDs change or get messed up that has to do with windows and the way it handles devices to begin with.

I had a friend complain about the DCS controls section you cant just save all, well if deviceIDs changed and you reloaded a saved "all" then it would mess up all your binds and you would have to start from scratch so by saving each device seperatley (as we do now) it fixes potential problems rather then create them... but everyone is so quick to think DCS is trying to make something difficult when really its fixing a problem.

sometimes I'm glad Eagle Dynamics is in control of such things and not some of these users!

and FYI OP: you will have to reset config folder quite a bit as its the general fix for anything thats gone wrong with deviceIDs in control section, video option settings or from anything they may have altered due to a patch, this is how i know about the fix from playing and being with DCS for quite some time. pretty sure its also in the troubleshooting guide.

in anycase goodluck to you in the future.
