In regards to the DLC, it's a bit misleading.
Basically what you have with DCS is a series of full-fledged simulation games. All these individual games then plug into and run together in a free platform, DCS World.
But, Valve doesn't necessarily recognise this system, so they're shoehorning it into the existing system - listing DCS World as a free-to-play game, and the modules (the real games) as DLC for DCS World.
It's unfortunate, because it not only fuels the perception that modern DLC is an overpriced cash grab from lazy companies, but it makes Eagle Dynamics look like one of these lazy companies... when in reality, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Sort of like as if you had gotted Microsoft Flight Simulator for free as a demonstration of the experience, and then been shown the option of A2A's aircraft purchases as a paid way to expand your experience with more content. But at the same time, in the "F2P" sense, the aircraft included are actually fully functional; there's no artificial limitations.
+price is this high because its extremely niche product made by small team for a few years and its the best sim u can get ^^
