Essentially in Ka-50 you are not just trimming but instructing the autopilot which can cause the "autopilot is trying to kill me" effect when unaware of it.
In the video at 2:20 when I try this. I press the trimmer button, it makes the click but when I return the joystick to the middle, it returns in game aswell. Basically the trimmer is doing nothing
Also you need to keep trim button down while moving stick to another position, then release it to give the parameters for the trim.
Yes I am really not sure what is wrong because I explained it in detail to a friend who is a Ka-50 pilot and knows what he's doing with it and he said he has no idea what going on. I will browse through my controls to see if there is something messing with it there.
if you press in the button and hear the trimmer click then it is indeed working.
I would see if maybe you need to turn central trimmer under ka50 -> special options on or off to get your desired results.
to be clear when you trim you move joystick to trim position and press trimmer then return to center within half a second, the attitude of the ka50 should most definetly be changed.
you can also press the trimmer in and fly to a stable attitude and then release which acts kinda like a flight director mode.
oh and im by no means an expert ka50 (or helo pilot) but I've done my share of stuff in the blackshark.
check that special tab for sure tho, could be something silly like your using the alternate trimmer etc.
hope we can be of further assistance if it still being a problem.
Ok I gave it a go with all your tips and still nothing, I will make a video tomorrow
I have managed to narrow down what is happening by loading up a mission where the heli is trimmed to begin with. The heli flies a steady course with the joystick trimmed fowards but... as soon as I touch the joystick in any way, the trim sets itselft right back to centre and the heli nose shoots up again.
So something about my joystick movements is cancelling the trim and returning it to the centre position.
Hope this can help some more towards finding a solution.
Instead of external programs, always make binding in DCS options so DCS can get inputs properly.
-Thanks for the help so far :)

in windows try and calibrate it, does it calibrate correctly or does it "recenter" on every touch?
if it does then somethings wrong with the stick or the drivers.
