Carrier takeoff

Do you need the DLC in order to take off from a carrier in multiplayer? or am I just not understanding the steps to get cleared to go to the catapult

if you dont have the supercarrier, you can only spawn on the CVN 70 (Dont know the Name) and the CVN 74 John C. Stennis.

1. drive in front of a ramp (Catapult)
2. extend the Launch bar
3. drive over the catapult shattle
4. press "U"
(5.) (not neccesary in most cases but realistic) lift the launch Bar again.

if you are hooked in the Shields behind your plane will lift and you are ready to start.
if you have the F14 you have to salute to get off.

I always start on cv with my F14 without catapult just prey reach 130 knots keep the nose up and full burner xD

I have to salute in the f18 take off myself unless Im missing something, Im still new myself to F18. ive only flown non Navy planes before.

Im pretty sure you need to salute regardless of the airplane..
I need to salute in my FA-18...

I know I have to salute in the F18/f14 since I been flying both last couple days

I need to salute in my FA-18...

maybe they changed it in the last days. i didnt play the last 2 weeks but before that, i never had to salute (no Carrier DLC installed)

If you buy either the Supercarrier module, or even just the Su-33 cheap module then you will be able to land and take off of the Russian carrier. The Supercarrier module comes with the Su-33 free of charge, but if you buy the Su-33 by itself without the Supercarrier module then you only get a low-res version of the carrier, but it won't stop you :)
