Where to start? Moving from MSFS to DCS. HW and Aircraft wise.
Hi guys,
I have some hours in msfs2020 around 600+ among airliners and ga. Willing to try DCS, what plane will you recommend for first time. Generaly i have no idea about what role i would like to fit. So maybe some multirole fighter. My HW is Honeycomb bravo and alpha, also have TM16000M. I'm not the beginner in flying commercial aviation in sim, but will definitely be a beginner in DCS.

Can you please suggest a good one high fidellity aircraft and maybe some decent HW to keep up if honeycomb is not enough.

Thank you

The general rule is fly what you are most interested.
If there's any particular plane in DCS you want fly that one.
That said the two most capable multirole planes in DCS are F16 and F18.
They can mostly do the same thing.

Both can throw out medium range missiles to a bit under 40nm. Both have ability to use helmet for target lock. The can mostly use the same weapon. (F18 doesn't have the good cluster bombs the F16 has, but it does have anti shipping capability in harpoons.
Both have small fuel tanks, but F16 will drink up 12 000lb of fuel in about 5 minutes on full afterburner. But it also goes much faster than the F18.
F18 also have ability to do carrier ops which is super cool and immersive especially if you splurge on the Super carrier moduals.
F18 also has more campaigns then any other plane in DCS, tho some of those will need extra bought maps. F16 so far only has 1 campaign and it needs the nevada map.
2 more are in production. But F18 still has like 6 or 8 campaigns I think.

Great advice. Thank you.
Well i can say about airliners or GA but have no clue about fighters, i can only tell by the look and have no clue how difficult is it to learn etc. For example i like su-27, f-22, mirage, mig-31, f/a-18.

What about F/A-18C Hornet and Super Carrier in a bundle for 77EUR?

If you like the F18 then it's a good deal.

Grim reapers has over 100 toturials for the F18, not all arr still valid as over the years since thr toturial series started the F18 has gotten lots of upgrades.

Do you have any PMDG addon for MSFS2020?

I will go for the bundle. Should be enough for a lot of time to learn and get into the systems.
@Troll Norris yes, i have PMDG 737-700.
F-16 is definitely a good choice, or if you really want carrier ops, then the F-18.

However, coming from MSFS and experience with airliners and GA, you might want to check out the JF-17.

It is somewhat of a distant cousin of the F-16 I'd say, but avionics do come a lot closer to modern GA aircraft compared to the other multirole fighters.

And it is a very capable multirole fighter, doesn't need to hide from anything.

Personally, I'm flying the F-16 and JF-17, and would buy both again.

You did not understand that properly. You can get every DCS module for free for 2 weeks. After the trial period you can do another trial 6 months after. You can do as many trials at the same time as you want. So you can just get the F18 and PersianGulf and SuperCarrier in a trial and test it for 2 weeks for example.

The trial system may only be available when you use the Non-Steam-Launcher, so the Standalone Version. The Steam Version does not support that.

Aha indeed i didn't know that. Thank you for information. So far i have F/A 18C Hornet and learning it slowly.

Well friend, I hope you have a good joystick/throttle because you will need it. I recommend the F-18. Because it is probably the easiest aircraft to fly in DCS. But also because there are many campaigns for it. It does air to air and air to ground fine. The selection of loadouts is probably the largest of any planes in DCS. It will keep you busy for a long time. I've had it for years and I am still learning as they update the sim. After you think you're a hotshot pilot, you can try carrier operations. If you can hack it, you will never go back to 10000ft runways.
