the community is hit or miss with devoted groups usually forming up and running private servers.
These have the simplified systems so rookies can start them easily. If bought on discount the price has been very low at times.
Most servers kick people for that kind of behavior I think.
Second problem is that SL mod is broken in 1.5 and we can't have nice things like autokick/ban. So yeah, OP expect people being angry for calling them crap.
Not to offend you, but apparently you don't even know the established servers (104th for example) and calling the community crap is simply uncalled for since apparently you don't even know a fraction of the community.
Firstly, I did make it clear I had infact met a lot of cool people, so i'm not branding %100 of the community crap, I even stated "I have however met some really cool and descent people that I fly with whenever I can get on... But the ratio of idiots to good flyers is just way in favour of the idiots right now".
Second, just left a server that has auto kick enabled for people that TK twice... I don't know if your unaware of this or if the server has a differen't version or 3rd party enabled or anything, but it does exist.
Third, no I don't know the established servers, as I am clearly talking about public servers... You go into a public, low/medium populated server right now (10+/50 slots), go look at the leaderboard and look at all the friendly fires etc at the bottom. I just did it and out of 11, the bottom 4 have minimum 3 friendly fires on aircraft. That's %30 of the server tk'ing, you understand my point now?
I wasn't talking about squadrons, clans, groups or any of them as i'm sure they are really cool. I actually have a lot of respect for them as they taught me a fair chunk of my flying on DCS and FSX... But I'm talking about general public servers that anybody can hop into without having to sign up here or there or whatever. I don't have time right now to sign up to anywhere, just to get a couple of hours flying in, when I actually have time.
I don't know if I made that clear enough, My post wasn't intended to offend, Hope this clears it up.
Thanks for understand my point, yeah I met a few cool people on DCS like I said, i'll see if I can run with them at some point.
Stop making broad statements about the public servers, if there are problems bring it up with the respective community who hosts it. Again SL mod is currently broken and no automated kick/ban features. The server messages might still work and suggest otherwise. If we got an autokick function with 1.5 that I am not aware of please correct me.
What 'public servers' are we even talking about?
I'm not the OP, not the one making the original statement and just pointing out that you get what you get when you join an open server.
take a deep breath.
No, no I don't think you get what I mean.....
I'm not making any anecdotal statement.... I'm telling you an experience, handed you factual information about it and then gave an opinion about it. You don't need to 'disprove' it, if you feel like you need to disprove it, then you're going to have a long day. I even suggested you take the opportunity to see for yourself what I am meaning by my statement, by visiting a low/med public server. It's blatantly obvious that public servers do have a issue of teamkilling, I even just went in another server 20 minutes ago and a similar incident happened to what I described in my original post....
And there aren't that many 'public servers', i'm sure it isn't that hard to work out, is it? there is like 2-3 low/medium pop servers right now, I already mentioned this, it's not hard to look.
I don't know if you're referring to me? But i'm good man
I was just trying to make my point clear, and also trying to clear up anything that I said that could have caused offence
My experience is different (anecdotal^^) and I can't help but feel that you are just playing on the wrong servers/ are bad at communicating your problems to the administration. Yes there will be TKs, accidents and bigotry. I have done enough admin work in DCS to know that. But the quality of a public(dcs) server will be measured in how swift and generous the admin is with the ban hammer in those cases.
Yeah I totally understand you there man, I've got a feeling i'm in the wrong servers a lot of the time. Obviously accidents happen etc, but there is a fine line between one-two friendly fires and ten, if that makes sense?
And I actually used to be in the TAW server a lot and that is the best server in my experience to date, spoke to a few of the guys in the group too who are really descent! I do travel a lot and that makes it hard to be part of a 'committed' group (Even though I wish I had the time, I simply don't).
Maybe in the near future I can sort something out in regard to that, but for now it looks like its a game of just finding the right servers :)
Don't let 'random noobs' ruin your DCS experience, most server admins have an absolut zero tolerance policy for that sort of stuff and honestly, you shouldn't consider them as part of the community either. Somebody doing regular teamkills will get banned from the handful of regular MP servers in no time. Just right now without SL mod in 1.5 stuff might suck for a bit.
Its Very much like ARMA in that respect, you either have to be all in or you dont really get the full experience that DCS offers. Sometimes you can get lucky with servers and get a good game.
People with very random gaming time like myself dont really get to experience proper group play. That said, neither am I going to go on teamspeak for an interview, I already have a job.
Right on top of my hat there is =STP= for german speaking people who are very open and just 'drop in on to TS' and fly around sort of thing. Those groups might be a bit more invisible because they don't do active recruitment, they are just drop in & have fun.
Also I urge everyone who flys online regulary to just hop into the TS3 of the hosting server. DCS-MP experience (especially in pvp) is massively enhanced by voiceover comms. The 'aircraft-speak' might be a bit overwhelming at first but you will get there and be sure to always inform everyone that you are new to this.
A human wingman is priceless! :)
