Problems with SU-25T training missions
Hi all.

First of all, apologies if this is something that has already been noticed and answered before!

I was wondering if anybody else has noticed any problems with the training missions for the Su-25T?

The problem I am having mainly is that the instructor doesn't seem to continue when I reach the waypoint requested - for example in the landing training mission (the easy one), I complete the first task which is to fly to waypoint 2 and beyond that, no further instruction is given.

Secondly, I have noticed that the waypoint guide on the HUD just doesn't match the direction being given by the good old trusty dials.

If anybody could shed any light on this - especially if it is just me being an idiot - I would be very grateful as DCS World is an incredible simulator that I would otherwise be enjoying a great deal.

I fly the Su-25T for 8 years, since the original Lock On FC.
So I haven't attempted the basic flight training for it.
And it just recently became interactive and not a video.
I have tried the SEAD and CAS training just out of curiosity, without any technical issues.

I have seen similar complaints before on Eagle and Steam forums, and this one made me actually attempt the basic landing training, just to see if it's really screwed up.

And guess what, it works great! No bugs.

Follow the instructions exactly, or very close to whats asked of you.

Simply flying over the way point is not enough.

You have to follow the assigned airspeed and altitude as well.
The way points in DCS are not on the ground, but in a 3D space.
You can clearly see them on A-10C HUD, for example, plotted in mid air.

You also have to follow the ADI and intercept the line between wp0 and 1 and so forth, before turning to its vector.

On the very first attempt, I am not experiencing any issues with the landing training.

More on how to interpret the instruments, is in the PDF manual, located:

Yes, the comrades spelled it "aircrafts" with an S lol ;)

I also recommend setting the joystick axis to some (5-15) dead zone and curve (20-40).
This will allow for pilot error and precision towards the center.

Also, the Autopilot modes like LALT 1, 2, 3.. are your friends.
Use it to adjust your trim for the airspeed/altitude.
LALT 9 to disengage Autopilot.

Previous related post that might help. Sounds like the script 'gate' might not be being triggered if you're too high/low etc.

Guys - I really appreciate your help on this. I will give things another try tonight. I suspected it might be more my innacurate flying rather than a bug but I wanted to check for my own sanity :)

Thanks again!

the training missions break really easily and can be hit or miss. I would suspect the waypoint isn't changing for some reason and thus the HUD information remains wrong after flying "near" the gate.

best of luck.

It would help if you told us what airplane you are trying to fly... Is it a FC3 level plane? The A-10C? The P-51D?

I'm loving the sim but the tutorials are horrible really. Check out this guy's youtube videos he does like 10 hours of training on the SU25T. Don't worry you can save the weapon parts until later and just focus on the sections that cover take off, navigation, and landing first. I found them packed with information but you'll need to watch sections over again and maybe take notes. He makes stuff look WAY easy until you try it yourself.

Tried again last night and everything went smoothly (even my landing).

Thanks again for your help all :)

It IS easy once you know what your doing.

I wouldn't exactly claim to know what I am doing :)
