DCS World running really low fps on good PC.

Here are my specs

cpu - i7 5820k
gpu- gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 980ti
RAM- 16 gigs DDR4
HDD - 7500 rpm black WD (i think)
I also have an ssd but the game is not on that. (I don't think that should cause this prob)

Ok, long story short even on low settings i get 20 fps TOPS, this is on the first campaign mission btw. Even after i take off i still get no higher than 20 fps, I started on 1440p then changed it to 1080 on low settings and still didn't up the fps over 20. This is unacceptable for my hardware. This is also why I'm posting another thread on this topic, because the only other forum posts on this game for low fps are on machines that are no where near as good as mine, so that doesn't really help me any. Ideas on how to fix this would be great thanks. On a side note this is kind of ironic imo, because my crappy gaming laptop got better fps with this game then my new desktop does. btw the game is on the same hdd that it was on in my laptop so I know its not that.

Just to confirm, you are running DCS 1.5?

A couple of tips that will help for sure:

- Use ALT + Enter when entering DCS, as the game starts by default 'window borderless' rather than fullscreen.

- The Depth of Field setting is not really optimized. Turn that off.

- Disk can help more than you'd think, so if possible it would be good to try it on the SSD with Preload set to maximum just to compare for your system.

Well the alt + enter helped it went up to 40 fps on maxed setting depth is turned off and its on 1440p thanks! I'm not sure if 40fps is good sitting at an airport with my setup but it beats 20 fps or lower thanks!

Installing it on your SSD will improve loading times and reduce the risk of getting stutters. I really recommend using it for DCS.

if your specs are correct you should have decent FPS...but there are settings like TEXTURES which make huges jumps in FPS.. what kind of monitor? and why would you ever not play at 1920x1080p min if you spent that money on that machine. i think you are over expecting your mchine to be able to run MAX settings..

Would be intersting to know what OP's in-game settings are? I'm mostly running stable 60+ fps with a GTX680 so something must be wrong in terms of graphics settings here.
