GIven your knowledge about Shukoi, how do you rate the quality of the mod, when compared with the FC3 SU-27/SU-33 and what do you know about the cockpits in this aircraft compared to real ones?
I have found one problem with this mod. After installing it, all the ships dissapeared. So it need some fixing. May be it version dependent? Don't know.
But the flight model doesn't feels real. Even the FC3 aircraft's flight model feels much more realistic. So yes PFM and SFM are a huge difference.
Anyway, the mod is nice. Finnaly RU aircraft have a TPOD and a lot of guided bombs and air to ground missiles. It also have much modern air to air missiles.
EDIT: Just found some video with a quick pick on Su-30SM cockpit, both forward and back seats. Looks like both of them made well in this mode. Looks almost like a real one, but also looks like the panels lack of shadows. May be because of this the mod cockpit looks a litle bit unrealistic.
Taking a look to WIkipedia, the Su-30SM seems to be the only listed version that will be operated by Russia itself. This version will also be partially operated by Malaysia.
The other ones are export versions to particular countries, designated by the "last letter".
India Su-30MKI
Algeria Su-30MKA
Malasya Su-30MKM
For example, one not included here is the Su-30MKV (Venezuela), but actually it´s the Su-30MK2 built by KnAAPO.
Curiosly the Indian version, Su-30MKI, is build by the other manufacturer, Irkut Corporation.
It´s like buying a car with different features. I like that engine but it´s very expensive. Just give me the other one that has less power. Could you include that pod for the same price? What about these canards or a less powerful radar? May you sell me R-74 or I have to just have the R-73M? And so on...
As how the model cockpit feels, I watched the release video and you are right that it feels like a poor cockpit compared to the Su-27. It may need some work in the textures and shape volumes, but I am sure the authors will do a good final job.
For the time being if you are a fan of Russian fighters, you only need to research the Su-30SM. What is clear is that version is a multirole aircraft. I believe I read somewhere it has been used in Syria.
Now you are not totally right about all the things like. Sell me this missile, don't install GPS, make my aircraft cheaper complictation and so on. All these thing are done a little bit defferently. Each country have its own needs. Each country have a different theats around their borders. So each country want a slightly different complication that will suit them the best. Some of the countries even buy an almost barebone aircrafts with navigational systems only and then inserts their own targeting, combat, ECM and other systems which they developped by themselves.
Its the same for USA export aircrafts by the way. And of course the country which developped, and which is manufacturing the aircraft have the best systems with the best specs. So if you will take to F-16Cs, one US and one Turkey, I'm pretty sure that US one will have much more advanced systems with much higher specs than the Turkey one. The same is for Russia. The only exception can be a Chinese licensed version of Su-27 which is called J-11A and manufactured in China, because its not an export variant anymore as well as all other modiffications of this plane.
It´s not only about the threats, but the budget available for the acquisition.
You are right that USA is not selling everything they have in their armed forces to their allied countries. Different engines, radar and probably sensors (and pods). But they are delivering the latest Sidewinders and Amraams.
Anyway, we´ll see where that mod (Su-30) gets to. As you have noted, I am more inclined to fly USA aircraft as you for Russian ones. Before LOMAC all sims were about US stuff. From there is that we have flown something like the Su-27 (at least partially in my case).
I have at least the curiosity, mostly because Venezuela has currently the Su-30MKV.
They still have the F-16A and B (a few operative). And before that, the Canadian version of the F-5 and some versions of the Mirage. And earlier, F-86, Vampires and Canberras during the 50s and 60s. You can see an evolution of providers: UK, France, Canada, USA and Russia, LOL! according to the political thermometer of the moment.
F-16A and F-16B are a vintage aircrafts already. They are nothing like F-16C and F-16D. They doesn't even had an MFDs. They are a true counterpart of a MiG-29 that we have in game.
Yes the F16 A and B have very old avionics. But the F16A seems to have an MFD at the left (probably the radar. The same one we had in Falcon 4?
