F4e Maverick.

Something odd is happening when using the Maverick. In training video I can successfully lock on and fire two Mavericks, but when I come around for another pass they won't lock on. I have the AAR release binded to my HOTAS and when I release it won't lock on.

I am going to try the target contrast switch, maybe there is not enough contrast to lock on.

I've had this happening too. Not sure what the issue is yet.

Well, I've tried all the training missions, And I can't for the life of me, get the maverick to lock on consistently, any thoughts guys on what I may be doing incorrectly? I've got everything set up the way the tutorial says, but still no joy. lol!

Hard to say what's going on. Make sure you're using the four squares as your targeting retical and not the cross. You don't need to be precise but still generally over the area where a vehicle is. From what I noticed, some vehicles are tough to lock on when you're coming in at a weird angle.

Try to set yourself up properly and turn on active pause (Lshift, windows key, pause key). It will allow you to slew the camera around and lock on to vehicles without having to fly the plane at the same time. It might give a better understanding of the lock on system.

I've found the Mavericks in the F4 to be very difficult to lock even when using the IR version and with the target bright white and in the open. Not sure if there's a bug or they are just simulating the F4 not quite being up to the standards of the 16/18 with targeting pods. Having said that even the Viggen is easier than this and that has a comparable targeting system.

Thanks guys, I am getting closer, able to lock on two targets on first pass , but still having a little difficulty on 2nd pass. But practice should bring it around. Happy Flying my friends.
