Campaigns?
Does this sim have any dynamic campaigns like Falcon 4.0 or is it just single unrelated missions?

it has user made dynamic campaigns. there is liberation and foothold that i know of. there are also full scale war mission generating missions. meaning that there is an active war going on and the mission has several missions available that also randomly generate.

Officially not yet. It is under development and it will probably take year to be finished. Unofficially you can download some dynamic campaign engines.

With a couple of exceptions, all current campaigns are sets of consecutive missions.
Dynamic campaing management is currently under development but won't be ready soon AFAIK.
In the meantime, you can use an external tool like DCS Liberation which allows manage a dynamic campaing.

1- There are 3rd party random mission generators with deep customization like Briefing Room. Easy to learn it and intuitive UI with no game file modification. It outputs the mission file on its own. It also features a campaign generator.

2- There is a deep dynamic campaign maker called Liberation. Needs a beefy CPU to handle the mission files but with some tweaks here and there are ways to make it easy on older PCs. (recommended to have 32gb or more RAM). It features budget and fleet macromanagement if the player pleases.

3- If you're willing to learn, the mission editor, although not featuring all the deep scripting the community enjoys from MOOSE and similar (also add that script engine to this) is a very potent a rewarding mission maker with dynamic elements giving you also the possibility to make sandbox like scenarios which almost everything is randomized. Need to understand the Mission Editor trigger logic for the best usage of it.

4- A DCS in house dynamic campaign engine that will be deployed inside the simulator itself is under construction pending development to be released to the public.

These look very good. Do they work with the free content and the Flaming Cliffs content? I am not spending £65+ on one plane but if the Flaming Cliffs works I could get that possibly. Well its either that or getting back into Falcon 4.0 ....

Yes, they all work with any flyable plane. The free Su-25T, Flamming Cliffs 3 or any FF module.

Be informed that if you end up liking DCS, a FF module purchase is inevitable. They provide endless replay value too as you're never 'done' with them.

Well I would have to like them a lot to buy one plane for £60 with no campaign to fly it in lol. I prefer lighter sims, vanilla Falcon 4.0 was my limit and that was when I had a lot more time than I do now.

I will take a look at the free Russian plane although I prefer US or British planes, and might consider Flaming Cliffs. But there again I might just spend £5 on Falcon 4 and get into that one again instead.

DCS does look nice but the lack of an integrated dynamic campaign is pretty damning at the moment. I cant believe they only have 4 people working on it considering how damaging it is to their whole game not having one.

At the moment I am playing the old Tornado on Steam and that is great fun.

As the Nick Grey told in the interview. They don't want to copy existing systems. They want to make something new and fresh. Advanced over old systems.

I will probably buy a plane when that's ready maybe the F18. Will keep eyes on it and in the meantime try the free plane. If it ever gets installed ....

Some of the scripted campaigns are fantastic. The F-14 has several including Speed and Angels. Made with help from real F14 instructor and F14 pilot (including the voices) it's the closest you'll get to really qualify to fly an F14 short of inventing a time machine.
The F16 campaign weasels over Syria had built in random scripting. Means no mission plays the same twice.
