Just can't decide AJS-37 Viggen or F-16
I already have F-14 and F-18 as well as Mig-21 speaking of jets close to my choice
So initially I was planing to buy F-16 during this sale, but this time ED a bit greedy and it's -40% and not -50%, so I can't decide if I should wait for winter sales or skip F-16 and enjoy Swiss UFO...?

I don't care about jet's roles, just looking for more fun/$ spent.

Viggen is very special aircraft. In its time it was very advanced to other ones.
Video is over 6 years old, but still very good. :)

Mate they are both fun just in different ways. Only you will know.

F16 can do everything except maritime stuff.

Viggen is very specialised ground and anti shipping aircraft. With a few exceptions you plan everything on the ground and then execute the plan and return to base.
No flying around looking for targets of opportunity.

This cannot be emphasized enough. If one wants to get the most fun, most engaging experience out of the Viggen, they need to be willing to learn how to carefully plan a mission and fly it according to that plan. Careful, precise low-altitude navigation is such a key part of the overall experience but it is very rewarding when you fly the module on its terms.

If you have the f-18 then you have the f-16. It's the same gameplay. If you look at the jets in terms of gameplay then you get to categorize them much easier.

I'd say if you have the planes that you do then the viggen would be the sensible choice because it will add a different type of gameplay to your library.
I prefer the viggen.

Im currently trying to choose between the P-51 or the I-16 so, OP, I feel your pain.

The F-16C can do pretty much everything well, and is clearly the more advanced of the two. A powerful TGP lets you drop laser and GPS munitions on foreheads, while the HAD ensures the Viper excels in SEAD and DEAD. And of course, in BVR, it is among the best.

As already mentioned, gameplay-wise the Viper is similar to the Hornet.

The Viggen is a Cold War strike aircraft, whose A/A capabilities are limited to short-range missiles for self-defense. It can be wildly satisfying to fly fast and low, hitting waypoints, and then popping up for a precision strike with glide bombs, Mavericks, anti-ship missiles or a rocket barrage, before GTFO in full afterburner.

I love both aircraft. I know you said you don't care about roles, but I don't know how else to differentiate the two. If you can only choose one, it's strictly down to your role and era preferences.

If you want to feel the real pain, choose I-16. It is quite challenging to learn to take off and land with it. I-16 is the aircraft which have learned me the propper "kickick rudder" techique.

Sorry for thread hijacking.

Viggen is quite unique in the lineup. You can reverse the thrust on the ground for really short landings!

I managed to break the wings off on my first ride with it so don't listen to me.

have both but prefer the f 16 harder to learn but at least you can understand the rws unlike the ikea version in the viggen

F16 is better in all, but the viggen is more fun.

why not just free trial the aircraft so you can find out which one you like more?

oh, that's right, you're a steam user. lmao

I would recommend the Viggen, it's got a lot of unique weapons and flight characteristics while the F-18 can do pretty much everything the F-16 can. You could always trial the two planes on standalone too, just to see which you'd prefer. Also if you really want to play around with the F-16, Falcon 4.0's on sale rn on the steam store.

Thanks everyone!
I was 1 click away from buying Viggen, but last moment I decided to wait winter sales to see prices for F-16, now i think I'll take them both anyway, but maybe at the same time during next sales :lunar2019grinningpig:
