He doesn't reply. The radio is set correctly as per tutorial. This happen on all high fidelity 4th generation fighters DLC that I owned.
If it was working before: If you use any mods - delete them.
Well, if he does not reply then the radio might not be correctly set as you think.
Try double check and ensure you have transmitted on the right radio, if your plane has more than one.
It could be the mission briefing is incorrect in the radio frequency. But based on your inability to complete the takeoff tutorial in the Tomcat without wrecking the landing gear, flaps, and wing sweep, I'm going to guess it's a user problem.
F-14, F-16, F/A-18C DLC. I don't use mods at all.
Guess it's the wrong frequency maybe? I'll try to turn on the easy communication in mission editor.
Also anyone knows how to switch from pilot to RIO in F-14B? I can't find the keyword in control settings. Tutorial didn't teach neither, most of them often missed out something. Also I always caused the F-14B wings and flaps damaged after manually set to fully extended during carrier takeoff.
Thanks buddy, I wonder why none of those YouTube tutorial teach how to switch from pilot seat to RIO seat. This is main reason why ED needs to come up with complete fun lively training DLC like Jane's USAF style that can turn the dumbest to capable DLC pilots.
Noted, thanks.
it is confirmed that there's bug in the wingman command. F-16C and F/A-18C wingman only respond normally after I radioed ATC asking for landing. As for F-14, it doesn't work at all neither with easy radio or manual radio, ED needs to do something to solve this. If I''m flying the F-14, my wingman refused to do anything. I can't radio base and carrier neither but I can still contact ground crew for power, air supply and armament resupply.
I've flown both the Tomcat and the Hornet extensively in the past few days, and the radios both work fine with AI wingmen. You love to blame ED for your inability to learn how things work, lol.
PEBKAC.
thank you
Those videos are almost always mentioned in the newsletter feed.
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/
Example:
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/e337d69a869e6645084620cecae7c1f3/
Next example, now from the changelog:
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/openbeta/2.9.2.49629/
In both examples If you click on the hypertext link, it will open the youtube page about the new feature and how to use it.
Also all details are continuously added into the flight manual which should be your main source of knowledge. Every aircraft has its own flight manual. You can find it in the:
1) "game instalation folder\mods\aircraft\name of addon\doc\"
2) In the official site download page: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/
3) For Heatblur there is also live online version: https://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/
4) In the future the Heatblur addons will have flight manual available right in the game where you will use shift+mouse click combo on switch or button or whatever and there will be automatically shown the page in the flight manual describing exact button or switch on which you clicked.
5) There is also "show guide" button right in the steam store page for each addon. But very often it opens only the quick start manual. Not the full flight manual.
In those manuals is written everything you need to know. There are step by step guides.
6) If you feel those manuals are too complex, you can choose the unofficial Chuck's guides. Those contains the most important things, control setup guides and advices. The guide does not explain things into depth like the official manuals. For example the emergency procedures. Some people will rather eject than trying to fix issue and land on airfield with damaged aircraft.

You don't have to ask people how to do things if you know how to find those info. Only if you can not find in what you are looking for in the sources mentioned above, I am willing to help. Yes, one can overlook the information in the documentation, but I think this is not the case. Because you ask so often so it looks you are not even trying to find it yourself.
1) set propper frequency - the one which is used by your AI wingman.
2) use propper radio. Often on the HOTAS is some kind of two or four way button. E.G. press forward for transmitting to VHF-FM radio, press backward to transmit to VHF-AM radio, press up to transmit to UHF radio, press down for intercomm, e.t.c...
About the key commands: the default slash "\" is only for intercomm, thus not working for radio transmitting. You have to use the command which is for transmitting. It is usually some shift or ctrl or alt combo with the slash key. Usually different combo for different radio transmitter.
F-14 is made by Heatblur. Not by ED.
Most multicres addons uses the same system. numbers to switch betwen cockpit stations. As usually, it is also possible to find in the flight manual.
