how to set up the datalink in the f-16

I´ve activated the datalink switches to my right, but when I open the dl page on my mfd it says "link 16 init requd"
How do I initiate it?
I assume I have to select a channel somewhere but I did not find any info on it in the mission briefing or on youtube.
I´d appreciate if someone could share how to do the setup.

I´ve checked in game and I don´t have a datalink tab for some reason.
Also is there a tutorial on how to do a manual setup like in a cold start?

My problem is that while it does work in air start missions, it never does when starting from the ground.
I have activated the dl switch,
turned the mids knob to on,
and also put the iff switch to norm (idk if it is needed to "link up")
still on my hsi no dl contacts appear (I´ve also tried setting xmit to l16).
I´ve read trough some of the manual, and it states that the datalink ded page should already be set up automatically, so I´ve made no changes there.
The dte page still displays something like "link16 init requd"

Made sure you you did the INS alignment?

Yes, I did the alignment, and then put the knob in the nav mode position.
maybe I didn´t wait for long enough tho.
I´ll try to do it again with fully aligned ins

Put it on stored heading. It's faster. Then nav

You need to always wait for the alignment to actually finish.
