TrackIR 5 >>>> Toby ET.
If you already have the first don't even bother with the second.

Tobii by default is less accurate and has more noise in your movement. I have it and the convenience of not needing to wear TrackIR is very nice but does have downsides of accuracy/precision.

zooming in and keeping your head perfectly still will still have a 'jitter' where the screen will drift around a bit so clicking buttons is frustrating.

i've used it with FaceTrackNoIR and it's much better. much more accurate/precise/stable compared to default tobii tracking so would highly recommend that.

the eyetracking is meh and mainly use it solely for headtracking. you could get used to the eyetracking and have it useful but it's unpleasant when first trying it and feels like it only adds noise to the tracking movement.

Is it worth the high price tag? no, support is limited and only a small number of games is supported. i wish it had more general functionality for controlling your PC and feel that's a missed opportunity on them

mixed experiences i guess, i use tobi 5 and i love it with no issues, non of the jittering Monkey was talking about, perhaps it very's on lighting and background im not sure, but i have tried track ir and it is very nice aswell but i dont like having somthing i have to put on, and in my case i use the tobii for other games aswell not just DCS.

I have a Tobii 4, EDTracker Pro and 240hz Puck Monkey. Not exactly the same products in question, but real close.

The Tobii 4 is what inspired me to buy the EDTracker some years ago, and I never looked back. The Tobii is an interesting product, but I found the head tracking was poor. The eye tracking was useful only in a few games. But when it worked it was a great experience. I didn't pay for the Tobii and Track IR was very expensive. EDTracker was available at the time so I bought that. I also didn't like the flickering IR light on the Tobii, but I am sensitive to flickering lights and monitors.

EDTracker is no longer available for purchase, but the pro version is an excellent product. It's tiny, light weight and has no monitor side sensor, just a USB wireless receiver. It has excellent tracking most of the time. It's limited to 3 degrees of freedom, with no positional data, but with some configuration that hardly matters.

Thinking I was missing out on TrackIR 6 DOF, I bought the Puck Monkey recently. When it works, the 6 DOF is as good or better than the EDTracker, but it, like its Track IR origin, is light sensitive. With a dark room and curtains drawn, it behaves nearly flawlessly, if you can sit in one place. However I have a very bright room with multiple windows, white walls and mirrors. Probably the worst environment possible. So I'm back to the EDTracker.

If you're just after a head tracker that doesn't involve wearing reflectors/lights pinned to the side of your head or a hat then I'd recommend the SmoothTrack app. You plug your phone into your PC and use it as the head tracking camera whilst using Opentrack software. I got it a few months ago after getting fed up with Trackhat. SmoothTrack works way better in my opinion, you don't need to wear anything on you head and it feels a lot more accurate.

Just got the Tobii 5 today and I can say it's really good and highly configurable.

Like MilkyJoe, I started using SmoothTrach which is a really good little product but hard battery drainer and then not convenient when getting frequent phone calls.

Then later I got a Track IR and was a bit dissapointed in general, weraing a cap when you're not used to plus the fact that when the lighting is not ideal it sucks etc.

Now I think I've found what fits me the most technically speaking, but the price tag is a bit too high imho.

You have to use TrackIR with IR clip. The reflectors are not very effective. Also when using the IR clip, the IR filter is much higher, so it is much more resistant to noise. I use TrackIR5 with DelanClip fusion IR clip and have no issues with that. It is fast, accurate, responsive, 6dof.

Tobii & FaceTrackNoIR works for me best in DCS World, follow this guide and you should be good to go.

Only caveat is if you're using MSFS you have to make a new FaceTrackNoIR profile, go the Freetrack settings and select 'Use Freetrack / Hide Track IR', then close FTNIR and you can still use MSFS's native Tobii support without having to uninstall FTNIR or muck about with the registry.

FaceTrackNoIR, Tobii and similar - as far as I know, the reaction of this system is too slow. Response time is good, but the output must be "dampened" a lot to reduce the screen twitching, jittering, which is caused by not very precise input data. At the high precission systems this is not the issue.
