Thrustmaster F16 throttle
Hello

so the new Thrustmaster F16 throttle is coming in few days. can it be used with other aircrafts like f18 and F14? the keys and axis etc will be used for them?

any hotas can be used with any module.

Sure it can - but you need to be mindful of the inherent differences. F18 and F14 have two engines and so they have a split throttle. F16 has a single engine.

It's not much of a problem - you can just bind it in a way your physical throttle will move both throttles at the same time in the modules that have split throttles. But to have separate control...

F16 throttle isn't for me as I'm not much of a Viper fan. I like to look at it, I like to fly it, but don't quite enjoy actually using it.

If you however are really into F16 - that might be a really nice piece of kit right there for ya.

As others have said, it will work like any other peripheral that DCS can use.

That being said. Be aware that the F-16 throttle will have limitations since it only has one throttle axis. Nowadays, it is common for HOTAS setups to have two throttle axis controls and for good reason. It might be a good idea to really, really ask yourself if the F-16's limitations are worthwhile or if it might be better to seek out something with two throttle axis controllers instead.

regarding the split throttles , i use the winwing F16 throttle and stick (the throttle base has 2 throttle levers but the handle locks both into 1 , so when im in say the A10c2 or F18 i simply map 1 throttle to both engines.

Edit .. in the control bindings Axis you'll see left , right and both ... map both and youre good. Dont try and map left and right with one lever , that wont work , you have to map the BOTH option.

thanks for the reply guys.

i am currently using a the T16000m.. and i understand that both the 18 and 14 have two engines, so split throttle is a thing. i havent used it nor i am much concerned about it.

i mainly fly the 16, other modules i bought out of my love for them...

i have been looking at the reviews for both the winwing and the thrustmaster one so will be deciding on one of them soon... for some reason the winwing one is cheaper as well and most revies talk much positive about it...

also side question, can it be used with falcon bms?? (because i play that as well)

Yes, tested it and works perfectly fine for BMS.

Winwing stuff is very good. I have the Orion 2 with a f16 stick and f18 throttle. I have been using it for about 6 months and am very impressed with its quality. I also got mounts for my desk to lower both to help with ergonomics. Winwing is worth the money if you you are serious about DCS and flightsimming in general.
