*All* of the DLC for this game will cost you...
Hello all.

The total amount in USD (United States dollars) for *all* DLC (downloadable content) for DCS World Steam Edition will cost you $3,428.71. Is this the game with the most DLC, and also the most expensive for all of its DLC? :winter2019surprisedsnowman:

DCS:World is platform and each DLC is like the separate game. You will have years of fun just with one DLC. Thing is: It is not like aircraft in WarThunder. It is like to sit in real aircraft and learn to fly in the real aircraft. Almost every button, almost every and system is simulated 1:1. The flight dynamics model is very similar to real counterparts. Some armies uses DCS:W as the training aid. The DCS:A-10C was originaly private contract for the national guard. You would probably be able to startup and take off with the real aircraft after learning that in DCS:W

Just fast answer. Total price of DLC's means nothing. Now imagine the X-plane has over 1000 payed addons.

Purely a math question. Just wondering if this game has the most DLC, or are there others? You mentioned X-Plane, T-Roll. Tell us about that? I see that top flight execs around the world are considering the use of said game. Perhaps they can afford all of the above. Jel, did you know that T-Roll and I used to post to discussion forums here on Steam about a few minutes ago?

This game does not have DLCs, but MODULES.
It is designed to be modular: base game is free and includes 2 planes and 2 maps.
You are then free to add any extra paid module you like, without being forced nor "strongly incouraged" to.

Is up to you to buy what you like: many users just own 2 or 3 modules, which are enough for thousands hours of fun (believe me I'm not exagerating!).

That basically means:
- Do you like the F-16C? Then just buy the F-16C.
- Do you like Syria map? Just buy Syria map.
- You are fine with the free content? Then don't buy anything.

The only exceptions are campaings, which requires you to own a specific plane module and/or a specific map to be playable, so always check the requirements: you can't expect the game to allow you play with a plane+map combo worth 100+ bucks for just 15$ :-)

Long story short: YES, buying *all* modules is really expensive. And NO, you don't need to have *all* of them: just buy the 1/2 you like... or maybe not.

This started with the Flight simulator and with X-plane. Microsoft FSX is very old game and still alive. Because there are tons of high quality 3rd party content. There are companies like PMDG, ORBX or A23A which makes awesome things. In comparsion the vanilla content literaly sucks. The PMDG developer is focusing on Boeing airliners. Its level of realism is insane. A2A addons are masterpiece in the GA category. Their new addon is unmatchable with anything else.

And DCS:W is the same, but for combat aircrafts. The level of detail is so high. It take years to make just one aircraft into those sims, DCS:W included. You can use the real flight manual for F/A-18C along with the DCS:F/A-18C. Or you can find the tutorials made by real pilots. E.G. for Apache:

Add-ons and mods are two different things. DLC and paid subscription content are, too, different things. When you look at a base game these days, is it truly a base game, or a demo with "more to come"?

Let's find out what "DLC" means. Who remember what was add-on, datadisk, expansion disk - There is clear from the name that all those somehow expanses (adds something) the main game. DLC means Downloadable content. DLC might be everything. Even OS Windows. Can you download Windows from internet? Then it is the downloadable content for your PC. Can you download Call of Duty? Then it is downloadable content for Windows. Can you donwload PMDG 373-800 for MSFS2020? Then it is downloadable content.

Generally most flight simulators are like sandbox platform with only very basic content. There would be infinite ammount of add-ons. And there is. You can find thousands of addons for those. You simply have to choose which one you want.
