Regarding the mission editor...
I would like to make it so that i can have a bunch of planes at an airport that doesnt have alot of parking space. Like how i can put more jets on a carrier then it has space for on the deck. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Takeoff Fom Ground should let you put helos anywhere.

i dont think i explained right... maybe a better comparison would be with a carrier... u can put way more planes on the deck than the actual space on the carrier would allow, i was wondering if i could do the same on regular airfields on land... where there are basically more planes than there is parking for...

you can check "late activation". Will put unit/group into unspawn state.
Create a trigger , active the group after XX:XX time or previous left the a zone. then the group will spawn.

At airport, take off from runway would allow you keep stacking units.

But the editor will not allow you stack at airport ramp. however you can manually edit the mission file by unzip miz file then edit it into same spot via any text editor. then "late activation" + trigger will do the trick
Is there maybe a way to set the heading of planes that are "takeoff from ground"? that way i could put them closer together. I tried it just now but they were facing the wrong way wich obviously isnt great...

You can't put more planes on the carrier than there are spaces. Unless you're talking about static planes? If you just want extra stuff to look pretty, use Static planes. If you want planes that will actually take off and fly you'll need to use parking spaces or Takeoff From Ground. Honestly, I'm not sure Takeoff from Ground works for planes, but it definitely works for helos.

Oh, i thought u could put more on carrier than there was space for... i did try putting "start from ground" on a plane but it was facing the wrong way...

There are 16 spots on the carrier where a plane can spawn, taxi, and launch (the AI determines where those planes will spawn). 20 spots if you include the 4 catapults and the Takeoff from Runway option. Outside of those spots, you can't place a plane on the carrier unless it's a Static.

Again, are you expecting these planes to take off and fly? Or do you just want planes that don't do anything and are there for eye candy and to make the airbase look populated?

as a bit of context, i am making a mission for a server and would like people to use the planes but just have basically a stockpile of different typed of planes so there is something for everyone

as a bit of context, i am making a mission for a server and would like people to use the planes but just have basically a stockpile of different typed of planes so there is something for everyone

Putting client planes, you always can set them with "start from ground", place them anywhere you want - then define their heading. If you realize they face the wrong way, adjust it as needed.
This won´t work on a carrier tho, here you are limited to the existing parking positions.

"Player" and "client" or heli unit once it choose start from group there is little circle and arrow icon will show at right panel.

There is a “tank” button under the mission editor enable the preview mode. zoom in unit will display 2D image represent it's size and heading make it easier to adjust

Context matters.

My previous post is mainly about managing AIs spawning. and make AI navigating more authentically.
For human player in MP it's doable
but it best respect the ramp and taxi spot and not stacking units at all. because
Player would stuck at spectator view for a while until trigger spawned the unit which is not cool and although there will be a message says your flight is delay please wait.
If they did not pay attention t.hey will think your server bugged.
Unlike AI human player can navigate on any 'hard surface' so "start from ground" might preferable


Technically it is still possible surpass the capacity issue by manually edit the file and use triggers or lua script, AI or human. But as reason above, wait can be painful maybe not the best idea. But still doable

They should point to the first waypoint. At least that's how helos work.

The direction the flyable aircraft face depends on the location of your first Waypoint in the editor, the Static aircraft however can be rotated to face a certain direction and any aircraft you put in for others to fly just make the pilot of that aircraft the Client.

I just took a second airfield to fit all the aircraft on but i now know where to change the heading on "start from ground" now, thanks...
