Mods
Hello all,

I'm still very new to DCS, I am very interested in flying a Firefighter Typhoon, I see there is an official module - made by third parties still in dev, and not being expected for a year or two.

I see there is a VSN Eurofighter plane which is not hosted on the official site (user mods section).

What are the downsides of using a plane mod in DCS, I guess it wouldn't work online - anything else? And I guess it's not as detailed as the real thing.

Thanks

Guessed right.
A Mod usually is based on a flight model of an already existing plane. I don´t know much about the EF Mod but you can pretty much expect some lack of detail here as well as avionics that have little in common with the original airframe, or simply lack some simulation depth (although there are some exceptions, such as the A4 Skyhawk Mod for example).
Playing online requires the server to allow mods and it to have slots for that plane available.
Generally i´d recommend to test the mods you like for yourself. They can be a great alternative to buying a full fidelity module - if you don´t care about the occasional flaws :)
