DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

The Tornado
Total Noob here, but I already have a question :D Any plans to implement the Tornado in DCS? There were three basic variants: IDS (ground strike), ADV (air defence) and ECR (SEAD/EW).

I remember playing the old "Tornado" by Digital Integration and the terrain-following model was exhilarating, I can only imagine what it would feel to streak over the battlefield at 100 feet at night...

Anyway, sorry if this is a FAQ (I read the previous posts on the matter but they are a bit old). Anyway, right now I'm learning the ropes on the wonderful MB-339 - so it will take a bit before graduating to more advanced aircrafts...

Aviastorm was developing DCS Tornado. No ETA.
There is not much info so far about their progress and features, no official (sub)forums.
their community is on discord.

Hm. It is a strange post. The German Air Force is, of course, the Luftwaffe, not the GAF. The Italian Air Force is the "Areonautica Militare" (so AM).

Also, the RAF version (ADV) and the ITS used by the Italians and Germans were deeply different - as the ADV (AKA Tornado F3) was primarily an interceptor which covered the North Sea and the British isles. The F3 had more powerful engines and, of course, the instrumentation needed to fight as an interceptor. It could guide 4 missiles against 4 different targets at the same time - a bit like the F-14 could guide 6 AIM-54. Also, the F3 lacked the terrain-following capability.

The IDSs flew "on the deck" and were AtG specialised - with only a limited AtA capability. So, it not only matter of adding "weapons and liveries"...

We will see.

The Italian Air Force is "AMI" (Aeronautica Militare Italiana)

The German Airforce is the correct English term for the post ww2 luftwaffe. Probably to more easily separate it from the ww2 counterpart.

The modern German Air Force took again the name of “Luftwaffe” since it was founded in 1956. And their insignia is still the classic Balkenkreuz.

And it's referred to as the German Air Force in English with "luftwaffe" as secondary.

The announcement was in English, and uses the English terms. In English if you use Luftwaffe, you are referring to the WW2 organisation(unless specified otherwise. )

Seeing a hoof print, try to think of horses instead of Zebras.
GAF is the ICAO Code for German Air Force which as you might realize is the "Luftwaffe" in German. Nothing strange here.
