VR: how to avoid loosing the mouse cursor?
Often I loose the mouse cursor. Sometime I get it back switching app then back to DCS but others this does not work, pressing sometimes help but I haven't determine how exactly I loose it and how I get it back.

Any reliable way to avoid loosing it and/or get it back?

What do you mean by losing the cursor? It disappears if you're not using the mouse. That's normal - would be quite annoying if the pointer was always there. You get it back by moving the mouse again.

Or maybe you clicked the middle mouse button and have that mapped to switching between having a mouse pointer and moving the viewport/pilot's head around or translating? In VR that wouldn't work so you'd think your mouse is gone until you get out of that mode.

I know that but the problem is that I move the mouse but pointer wont show.
I'm trying to figure out what exactly causes it because does not happens all the time

I haven't mapped nothing for middle button, however I will check - nothing to lose.

Do you have multiple displays?

Had the same issue. Kinda solved it by mapping a "turn clickable cockpit on/off" I also mapped a couple of buttons to left/right mouse click. The good part about this method is I'm now pretty good at knowing where the cursor will reappear in my HMD, so I can aim (at a button) cockpit on, left click, cockpit off.

Do you have enabled option "confine mouse to game window"?

If I remember right Middle Mouse Buttom was mapped by default to this kinda stuff, but not in all modules.

Another thing is what Troll said - confine mouse to the game window. But even with that, it was a little buggy always, as in, the first time you move the mouse it will still leave the game window even though it's "confined" and DCS will lose focus if you click. My workaround was to do it quickly in the beginning - move mouse down and left, click, lose focus, Alt Tab to get it back or move the mouse back into the screen and click to regain focus.
After that I could always move the mouse however I wanted and it wouldn't leave the confinement again. Had to do it every time I loaded into a map (so, joined a server, etc)

Mouse middle button should switch between look mode and cursor mode. BTW there are two "confine cursor to game window" options. One is in the system options menu and another one is in the VR menu.

Thanks man, seems that when the mission starts the cursor is in the "floor" of the plane:

looking down shows the cross - at least I tested twice.

I own fcs3, f16, f18, f86, super carrier and brought lately f15e but until now I'm investing time on really learn to fly.

FWIW I have been practicing f18 landing "hand on stick" for the last 3 days, 3 of 4 I get smooth landing, what I still cannot do is landing trimming only :(

I think that maybe is time to change my thrustmaster 16K HOTAS for winwing :p

So your thought about switching to a WINWING HOTAS set up, increased my landings from 4-5 out of 10 to 10 out of 10 so far. Your problems are primarily with the decline in the controls for Thrustmaster and also the X56.

Does any of the two options actually work for you? Never did for me, not fully.

I mean, I can load into a server or start a mission - at this point I can still get the mouse outside the window if I move it fast. If I move fast and click outside the window - it will lose focus. The interesting thing is - when I alt tab back into the game (or click on the game window) - it will no longer allow the mouse to escape in the same way. At least not until I change cameras a couple of times or go into the map and back into cockpit. Not sure what triggers it, but after a while (or reloading a mission, possibly reslotting) the mouse will again be able to escape the window.

Also I can always move it up and click and drag to drag the DCS window "from inside the game". ; )

I got used to it and it doesn't bother me anymore, but the options don't work as they should, that's for sure. It was like that as far back as I remember (2.5.x times)

I am not sure if that works in the windowed mode. Try if there is difference when you select Full Screen mode in the graphics options menu.
