DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

BMS, DCS: the legs simulation (and arms) in the cockpit...
Is DCS (or at least is there a mod) that works in every instance from MP to single player and that adds to DCS what seems to be missing: legs in the cockpit and the arms?
I am totally profane in this game and I am trying to move the first step but, damn, I know what it takes to set a game in an immersive way as I am not at all new to playing videogames at all and seen a lot of stuff ... I understand this could feel a bit way too naive, but ... please tell me that it's possible toadd legs and arms (I understand arms could cover the buttons and make the clickable module "not really easy to click..."

The design of such thing should make that if one is watching in a direction with track ir or whatever way, the arm of that side should \move away with an animation or just "glitch" away and then reappear.

I wish this is something possible to add offiically or third party or has already been done and can be downloaded.

Thank you! I got the same plane to study and the carrier expansion. Looking forward to hit more walls as a noob.

You can switch the body on or off, you can also hide the stick if you click on the base or use a shortcut combo.

Unfortunately if the body is visible, it doesn't really get out of the way like you say. It would be nice.

I prefer to fly without the body myself (VR).
Ok so the (arms) getting out of the way adds simulation, I am not a comfort experience player, especially when it's about simulation games from Arma to Ghost Recon Wildlands to DCS to Day Z(ero): interpretation for me is hardcore, the thing is, I need to understand from someone or by myself later (I prefer from someone earlier without touching the game) how the game can perform (especially setting-wise and else; NOTE: if a game is not allowing to really be manipulated in a realistic way and is about stuff that is realistic I don't buy... I hate overpowering, power male fantasy stuff).

So as far as I know now,the action to perform for me will be:

1.Turn your head with TrackIR God like powers (to look at what u need to switch or modify
2.Press the combo or the key you have set for body appear\disappear
3.Apply changes on cockpit
4a.Turn head back where it needs to be (head is again free, no need to look)
4b.Contemporaneously can also press the key to toggle body on again.

The reason behind this: you actually simulate moving your arm away by actually point 2. and 4b. (surely this process could be automated: by creating a "turn head with head tracking system = disappear but it would be stupid as it would create psycadelic effect, unwanted switch on and switch off when one is not intending to check the buttons right or left, so it's better to keep it manual).

However what the game devs could do maybe, I can't say as I should still check it out, is maybe when you go very near the arms with the cursor, to remove the arm (yea.. with an animation, maybe they could even give multiple animation so not to create a sort of "uncanny valley" effect (with all players moves behaving same way or same player having always same moves which can create negative feeling on the player experience)....

To those who do not understand this last thing it's like when in a game you have ALWAYS the same "barks" (as it's called in theater and videogame design of voiced scripts) by a NPC or your character: that creates a negative effect on player experience as it damages with sort of loop the credibility of the entire illusion (the game).

Just to be clear, the number of animation the arms could do could be a set of 2 or 3, that would already be enough, no need for 10 ways the arm is removed.

These are details but in a simulator that is 10 years old one could expect to find them.
Devil is in the details.

IMO - you are overthinking this a bit. For one, with the body on you won't really need to turn it off with every switch... Hands are rendered on the stick and throttle, so they mostly can get in the way at cold start. Other than that you should be fine, maybe in some modules the hand with the joystick itself gets in the way of switches right behind it, but again, some are "only" used on cold start or shutdown procedures or if you really need to work them during flight, but in ordinary circumstances you will have stuff on HOTAS and MFD/DDIs or UFC, which are usually right in front of you, unobscured.

You're not going to be switching the body on and off again all that often. ;)
