I use a wireless one made by RJSimtech. So far it has worked great and is very durable.
since i'm a noob, i switched from consoles to PC, i have a dumb ass question, what is a TrackClip Pro?
TrackIR is probably the most famous head tracking device: in practice an IR camera which tracks your head movement and move the game camera allowing to look around the virtual cockpit (see here: https://www.trackir.com/ )
TrackClip Pro is an active IR clip that improve the TrackIR behavior (more info on the link above)
Has no plastic parts or joints to break. Probably also easy to repair should a cable break or so.
You would think they would have sorted this out... and I'm betting we could be persuaded to fork out a bit extra for a clip that, ya know, didn't self destruct while doing nothing on your desk.
Anyways nice to see there are some alternatives out there. I'd offer you mine, cos i use the reflective strip on a baseball hat... but mine broke years ago... and i wasn't even using it...
The TrackClip Pro isn't all that expensive however the set itself is more so if you go with the the TrackClip Pro and not just the clip that you place on a hat. I personally went with the TrackClip Pro pack. It includes the clip that you place on a hat too but I've never used it. I've been through two TrackClip Pros myself (I ran over one which was my fault). The second one I ordered right from Natural Point and had it delivered in a few days. It works just fine with the IR camera I bought with the first. If I ever have to get myself another one I would probably find something else. Not because I have problems with the clip itself but rather not really a fan of it being wired.
Lack of competition probably. Its silly how expensive trackIR is in general.
Lazy, cheap and not well thought through ...
Duct Tape is the solution for me!
