TrackClipPro is a Piece of Junk
Between the rotting O-rings and breaking plastic joints, there has got to be something better out there. Anyone have any suggestions for a durable 3rd party replacement or is the original TrackClip the best solution?

I have a Chinese clone of the TracClipPro, which is also wireless, and it works really good.
Try look on Amazon.

I use a wireless one made by RJSimtech. So far it has worked great and is very durable.

I also ordered the Wireless one made by RJSIMTECH. Hasn't arrived yet but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Excited to try it out. I have a feeling that guy sold more units than he thought he would. But Grim and a few others gave it a GREAT review, and his sales went through the roof, so he's pretty back ordered. He has to print and assemble each one himself.

It is head tracking device. Almost must have for DCS:W

TrackIR is probably the most famous head tracking device: in practice an IR camera which tracks your head movement and move the game camera allowing to look around the virtual cockpit (see here: https://www.trackir.com/ )

TrackClip Pro is an active IR clip that improve the TrackIR behavior (more info on the link above)

I use the base delanclip thing. Aluminium plate mounted, with USB cable. To get distance/angle, you just bent a part of the plate. Seems pretty sturdy and sits tight enough with adhesive velcro on my headset.

Has no plastic parts or joints to break. Probably also easy to repair should a cable break or so.

Just checked the website, holy crap, I can't believe they are still selling that cheap plastic tat. It's not like trackir is a cheap thing ( on top of the cost of sims, hotas and pedals that we also need to for out for )

You would think they would have sorted this out... and I'm betting we could be persuaded to fork out a bit extra for a clip that, ya know, didn't self destruct while doing nothing on your desk.

Anyways nice to see there are some alternatives out there. I'd offer you mine, cos i use the reflective strip on a baseball hat... but mine broke years ago... and i wasn't even using it...

The TrackClip Pro isn't all that expensive however the set itself is more so if you go with the the TrackClip Pro and not just the clip that you place on a hat. I personally went with the TrackClip Pro pack. It includes the clip that you place on a hat too but I've never used it. I've been through two TrackClip Pros myself (I ran over one which was my fault). The second one I ordered right from Natural Point and had it delivered in a few days. It works just fine with the IR camera I bought with the first. If I ever have to get myself another one I would probably find something else. Not because I have problems with the clip itself but rather not really a fan of it being wired.

Lack of competition probably. Its silly how expensive trackIR is in general.

i totally agree and they charge you 50€ extra for this stupid piece of plastic. totally overpriced and useless. i now use the cheap one you have to wear with a hat. it works totally fine and you can drop it on the ground without damaging it.

Indeed.... The company who owns TrackIR should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for the plastic piece of crap that is TrackIR Pro..... Complete plastic construction that is no way up to the job through years of use and soon starts breaking or the plastic starts to deteriorate so much that the slightest stress on any joints or fixings ends with the plastic breaking..... Absolute rubbish, cheap nasty crap!!!

IMHO, not the clip itself, the lock is the problem!
Lazy, cheap and not well thought through ...
Duct Tape is the solution for me!
