DCS or Similar Game for PS4?
Do you think DCS (or a game similar to it) will ever come to the PS4, since it has mouse/keyboard support, an officially licensed joystick (T.Flight HOTAS 4), and a VR system?

doubtful, the hardware needed is most likely not met by the console

Not a chance, the gains one may obtain from porting or creating an actual flight sim on a console would be just too slim(Most likely it would not even achieve a profit). The demographic just isn't there for study level flight sims on consoles yet(Not that many of us don't play consoles either). The best you'll see on consoles anytime soon will be War Thunder.

The hardware in the so called next-gen consoles is sub-par for a sim like DCS so a PS4 release is not going to happen.

Disappointing....I guess I will have to wait until I am able to afford a good PC

Just to clarify... I think that a PS4 has a CPU clock speed of 1.6 GHz and there is just below 8 GB's of system RAM. With no dedicated VRAM, the CPU and GPU will use the same system RAM which will bottleneck the system just like when using a APU (there are several threads here about APU users not being able to run DCS at all...).

1.6 GHz would be very unsufficient for DCS since it heavily depends on CPU power. To add insult to injury the PS4 GPU is basically a modified Radeon HD 7870. All in all a PS4 is like a very low-end gaming PC.

I wish cause this game is not gamepad friendly but I still love trying to fly and blow stuff up with all the adavanced weaponry

You can use a controller but it is really meant to be played with a stick. Using a separate throttle and rudder pedals will further improve things. And of course adding headtracking is the icing on the cake. But the FC3 planes should definatly be playable with a controller if you re-map it properly.

This is not really aimed "blow stuff up" kind of thing: in this kind of simulation it is expected you put in the hours to learn the aircraft, weapons and use them appropriately.

You can start with gamepad and keyboard commands to get a feel for this but you really should consider proper stick and throttle if you are serious about flying high-fidelity simulators.

I'm good I'll stick to just blowing stuff up thanks for the tip though

For sure, if the learning curve was not so steep or if it was streamlined. By streamlined I mean better interactive tutorials, simpler UI with the same if not more functionality(X-Plane is my example in comparison of how it is now to what it will be with what they showed off), and simple missions(Like somewhat on rails missons) to give new players a bit of what they will experience(The arcade mode in DCS doesn't cut it imo).

Once you get the hang of it then it becomes an amazing experience.

There's interactive training for A-10C, for example. Every module does not have that yet.

The thing is, these aircraft are complex and systems are simulated to more detail than various X-Plane aircraft are. X-Plane aircraft (those with higher quality anyway) usually have flight dynamics there but not the weapons systems and so on.

Most modules have various missions in addition to campaign and there's instant action missions too, it is not like there isn't choice about them if willing to look for them.

On this level of simulation, user is expected to look at manuals and have interest in learning: there is no way to "spoon-feed" all this information.

Wasn't comparing X-Plane aircraft to the aircraft to DCS as I know DCS has a very high quality in that regard(Was comparing the future UI and ease of access in that regard). About the missions I mean there should be some hand holding missions for new players to get them excited rather than face the daunting manuals/complex systems and then just say screw it and stop. The interactive tutorials are great, but they need some more polish. Plenty of ways to spoon feed them too, I mean there is such a thing as displaying what button needs to be pressed at a particular time(I mean joystick/keyboard) during these hand hold missions(It really won't be that much of a challenge to do as it is meant for the heavily scripted missions).

The UI really isn't that bad if you spend 10 minutes looking through it. It is way better than the current X-Plane UI and you can't really compare it to an unfinished and unreleased UI.

Quite aware. I'm not trying to say that X-Plane or any other game is better, my point is a great UI is far underestimated in the benefits it can provided. DCS's current UI isn't bad, but an improvement not only entices new players as well as makes more complex systems(Especially the editor) not so daunting to learn/utilize or a chore. UI plays a heavy role sometimes.

I can compare it quite easily, why can't I compare something that we have seen and know its function?
