DCS World Steam Edition
Tutorial inside: How to use mouse yoke in DCS World
Hi,

How can I use my mouse to control the yoke in this game? I haven't got a joystick yet, but mouse sure is better than keyboard.
Thanks.

Best regards,
Brett

You can't. DCS does not support using mouse as a stick, you can only fly with keyboard. Mouse is used for looking around the cockpit.
Mouse is also used for clicking in cockpit switches etc. but not for flight controls.
Of course you can start digging through the manuals while waiting for joystick to arrive..
Thanks for your replies.
I managed to change my yoke controls to mouse via ppjoy today, however.

Best regards,
Brett
then here, for others who want the same thing.

problem solved we don't have to interact the next time its asked, almost all of us basically consider it blasphemous to use a mouse as its not an arcade game. like driving to work using wii-mote. I don't have anything against analog controler + keyboard for avionics however.

should have been more clear that DCS by default does not support such an arrangement not that it is utterly impossible to do. Have to ask though how do you click switches now?

Without any "unique" peripherals mouse control - to me - is the best to use.

I'd like to add that driver signature test has to be disabled to install ppjoy under Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 by typing "bcdedit -set testsigning ON" in the cmd.exe (administrator mode) and then restarting your PC.
The latest 64 bit version of ppjoy can be downloaded here: https://sethioz.com/download.php?view.229
DCS World may be tricky to setup with ppjoy inputs, make sure to try multiple times (only worked the 2nd time for me with axis controls) and delete the mouse-view mappings.

Best regards,
Brett
Not to bash your workaround there "Persuader" but how do you look around and click switches if you use the mouse to control the plane?
That's the downside: So far I did not map those yet.
It shoud be possible to look around by mapping shift + ppjoy mouse axis to viewing around.
About cockpit switches, I found no solution yet, they are, however, accesible via keyboard shortcuts (not very immersive, I have to admit).

Best regards,
Brett
Thanks for information Brett.
I'm sure this will become handy next time someone asks about using mouse.
