Event Log and dcs log?
I've had similar issues before and it can come down to windows or another program interfering.
Antivirus can get in the way. What comes up? The DCS logo? a black screen? or nothing?
Go to Steam (at top-left of this window) then settings. Go to Cloud and uncheck 'Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it' Click OK. (this is truly just temporary just to get it over the problem. This could be a way of validating DLC's. If steam closes abruptly you often have to re validate your DLC. like I said, could be related.)
Restart steam just for good measure.
Go to DCS in your library, Right click on DCS, choose properties. Then choose local files. Then choose 'Verify integrity of game files' DirectX may have not installed correctly. Do both of these, and hopefully it should work.
go to Steamapps/common/dcsworld, right-click Run.exe and Run as administrator.
Alternatively, go to your Steam library and right click on it, and try "Play Game" some said they had luck with that.
Try running windows update.
Lastly, it's almost 3 in the morning, and can't go into how to install the visual studio packages you should have. If many of your other games run, it shouldn't be a problem,,,
check in your add or remove programs and make sure Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 AND 2013 Redistributable (x64) and (x86) are installed - 4 entries. They should be. There have been a few windows updates that improved these.
You might want to reinstall Physx. I know I'll get blasted for this saying DCS doesn't use Physx... But this is one of those things (from what I read) that nobody is really clear on. And zero clear after 2.5. (again just from what I've read)
I spent a couple hours looking at others' crash logs last night and there is a lot of Phys* entries as the game loads. I know you have a Radeon, but some Physx can be done on CPU, and may require the tools to be at the very least verified as being present.
After it is reinstalled, the only other thing I can think of without a complete look at every possible problem, is create a new user account in Windows after reinstalling Physx, run steam and see if it works there.
Other typical things I've read is overclocking. and closing Afterburner, antivirus, Background programs... Even innocuous ones like Skype.
- You may have antivirus that is running specifically for current user preventing. Even disabling it may not allow the program to run, it has to be managed or uninstalled (use judgement)
- Think back to any core changes you may have made on this user. (if it's honestly not much, that can be a good thing.)
- Running the new user probably stopped a lot of Startup programs this user has. In task manager close all non essentials. Don't close any Steamwebhelper type stuff, svchosts, just major headers like Spotify, and other stuff, all third party stuff, all overlay stuff.
- Are you running anything like Hamachi or proxy servers? (that can kill some games from starting) or any other gaming type connections? Check your networks. Disable any except your real network.
- don't get overzealous and uninstall anything.
- After closing all non essentials, every single one, restart steam.
I want to sound hopeful, what's preventing it may be in minutiae of things I've never seen or used it's up to you to try and get this user down to a super default level. It often works though.
If you do all of those things, and it still won't launch, it's very telling, could be bad registry entries, group policy setting problems corrupted steam profile. not sure :/ It may not be that bad to just move over to a new user. But if anyone else wants to chime in advice for this stage, would be cool.
Hope this helps someone.
