Can't get into cockpit view and got no control over the aircraft

I'm sure the title says it all. I started the game up today, downloaded the training missions for the Huey intending to play through those.

Thing is though no matter what I do, what plane or helicopter I choose, I do not get any control over anything anymore. From the second the mission finishes loading I'm stuck on the external views with no way to control the aircraft. I've tried it with the Huey, Mustang and the A10. No luck on my side so far.

Has anyone got a clue on what could cause this?

Sounds like a license issue. The game doesn't think you have purchased those modules.

Do either the Su25T or TF51 work (they are the free ones)?

Yeah I just tried the Frogfoot, that thing worked just fine.

Any way to get past those issues? It's odd because the modules worked just fine last time I played (which admittedly was a few weeks back)

The red text on the right gives tips to force activation. You can get your serial keys (if bought from Steam using Library / DCS World / CD keys (on right). If bought from ED then if should be under your account there.

I can't seem to force the activation window to appear. Just to be clear, I have to shift+click on the multiplayer launcher of DCS: World? Because for me that does not seem to do anything.

Hmm. I'm not actually sure how the shift-click would work on the Steam version (having just tried it, sorry). You can activate the ones your own individually like this:

..DCS Install Folder/Mods/Aircrafts/<module name>/bin/.

..so for Steam default path, for the A10C that would be:

X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\bin

Right Click on a10_protect.exe run as admin, choose activate. There should be a .._protect.exec for each module (in each ..\Mods\aircrafts folder).

If that doesn't work, then you'll need to remove the existing keys (maybe a recent hardware change?) from the registry. Which is either removing HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\ folder (if you are comfortable with regedit and understand the risks of editing incorrectly) or using these .reg files from here:

Well simply running the activation does not seem to work. I can't find the folder you said to delete to remove the existing keys.

There has been no hardware or software changes recently oddly enough.

Unfortunately removing the keys did not work either. All that happened was that it went down from 9 to 8 activations left. I'm really at a loss here.

Assuming it's a Steam install, it might be worth doing a 'Verify Files', i.e.

Library / DCS World / (right mouse button menu) Properties / Local Files (tab) and hit the

'Verify Integrity..' button.

After that, if the install is good and it says it is activating, then not sure what else it could be, i.e. perhaps a ED support email?

PS As a final thing to try if the verify doesnt work is resetting all settings, i.e. go here:

C:\Users\(YourWindowsUsername)\Saved Games\DCS

and rename the DCS folder. It will create a new fresh settings one at the next start.

It is not a steam install, but I will try and simply reinstall the whole thing. If that doesn't work I'll end up writing a mail to the support. Unfortunately resettings the settings didn't work either.

I just noticed something odd. The menu of my install reads version 1.2.8.27915 but I just recently installed 1.2.10. Could that have anything to do with it?

Yes, in that newer modules will fail with the older base. The DCS Updater needs to get you to v1.2.10.

Odd, because as said, the updater said that it downloaded 1.2.10, but the version displayed in the menu and all is another one. I presume I'll have to reinstall it properly then.

I seem to be having the same problem but you guys appear to have resolved your issue a lot time ago... like in 2014... this is now 2022... same problems... you'd think. No matter what mode I play, mission, training... same issue. And, the issue is also with no access to the any of your keyboard except for the esc key and Ctrl,Alt,Del combo...
