xbox 360 profile
So I've played around for a while and it seems the basic control stick is preconfigured for the xbox controller. However, it's far too sensitive and I can't seem to figure out how to reduce the sensitivity.

In addition, does anybody have any good control setups?

DCS seems to generate a default profile whenever new aircraft or controller is detected.
Gamepads are not really what is the primary control device for a flight simulator but some have used them although actual flight stick is recommended in the long run..

Check for community files in DCS main site, they might be some there:

I want to buy a nice look joystick, that is like 25 dollars, the logitech extreme 3d pro. It has really good reviews, but people say that it doesn't use magnets and instead it uses 'cheap plastic pots', and this weakens the part where the joystick connects to the pad, or something like that?

Believe it or not, I really don't want to spend more than 30 dollars, and supposedly not having this 'magnet' technology will really weaken the durability of the joystick. That's confusing, because all the reviews talk about how durable the logitech 3d pro is! Sounds like a contradiction to me.

EDIT: I went through the website and couldn't find any xbox 360 controller profiles.

There are some threads here about experiences with different joysticks.
I haven't looked into current choices lately, some have recommended Saitek x52 or x55 though.

Sorry that I can't be more of a help here.

that's a relief. What a great deal, only 25 dollars!

Everybody says the T1600M is more durable though! I don't know who to believe!

Argh!

I used to use a 360 controller i used to use a program called xpadder and also you want to go into axis commands in dcs and lower the x and y saturation hope this helps.

I wouldn't use any of the above and get an X52, as for xbox 360 controller, why do you even need a profile the thing has like 8 buttons?

If you cannot figure out what to map to the 8 buttons your gonna have a very difficult time getting into the game, I suggest you watch some tutorials on how to start up and fly in general before even beginning to worry about the bindings.

goodluck.

To adjust the sensitivity of the xbox controller, go the to control options and click on axis assign. It will then jump straight to the axis controls that can assigned to the xbox controller, then click on axis tune to adjust the various sensitivity settings to your liking.

I've only recently discovered this but haven't gone much deeper into it since I have an x55 on it's way.
