Why does this game take forever to load?

That is a lot.. Have you tried defragmenting your harddrive?
Despite what MS marketing says, NTFS does need occasional defragmenting as well.

Also check for other software with heavy disk-IO and that you are using AHCI mode instead of legacy UDMA mode and so on.

If it was around a minute that would be still normal as it has lot of data to read and process.

The game literally runs absolutely fine, even with all of the settings to maximum, ive experienced barely any lag at all

BIOS and you need to have proper driver installed, can't remember where to check that in Windows..

just to clarify 10-15 minute loadtimes are not the normal load time, mine loads in 25 seconds (just tested)

i5 2500k @ 3.7ghz (removed my 4.6ghz OC)
16gb DDR3 9-9-9-24 2T @ 1600mhz
OCZ Agility 3 120gb SDD (157 MB/sec Transfer Rate, 0.2ms access time, 254.3 MB/sec burst rate, 1 pct CPU Usage)

you can use a program such as HD Tune to check hard drive settings as well (thats how I have my SSD information here) although to see if your controller is using AHI (advanced host controller interface) or legacy PATA mode you would need to check the BIOS of your motherboard by pressing the key to enter setup and checking in there.

keep in mind that AHCI is used for SATA devices only and is very nessacery for getting proper speeds with a SSD.

It isnt SSD, its an external hard drive (probably why this is happening), I could switch the game over to my internal one, and ill tell you what happens

so your using a hard drive thats connected via USB?

ensure your using a USB 3.0 port, besides that its not really the games fault then -- its just the way your trying to play it.

and no one asked you to reset your BIOS, you asked how to see if it was set to AHCI, he was simply explaining how to check it, by entering and looking at the setup values is not resetting anything.

if you are connected by USB then it doesn't matter if its set to AHCI or PATA mode.

Actually, I may have some USB 2.0 but I cant find their locations

ya the extenal one is great for data storage but for a game its not good at all, as you can see by the transfer rates, this is why the load is so long (if you can use USB 3.0 ports it may be acceptable then but I'm unsure of how much faster it would be)

I would guess that the internal one is gonna load in about a minute to a minute and a half.

Regarding USB: if using USB 2.0, the BEST CASE transfer rate is about 35MB per second, giving a best case of about a minute to load 2GB of data. This can however be made even worse depending on the actual storage media inside the external drive (what is the model name? I can check with that), other things also using the USB bus, etc.

In general, an external drive should be used for long-time storage, not games you are actually playing.

EDIT: If that is USB1, then yeah, that's your problem right there. 2GB of data on that would take about 22 minutes...

Its a Toshiba 1 TB external harddrive

Its been having some really bad issues with it though, like, not connecting to the USB's correctly, this is probably the problem
