What do you really think of VR?
I have a quest 2 and tried VR, its great for short game play but gets so uncomfortable, I still think VR sets are too bulky and heavy to have long term game play. Also so difficult to use the keyboard shortcuts if you need as well as locating your joystick buttons so it ruins the experience for me what do you think?

I agree and I prefer to use track ir.

Yeah same here, I prefer Trackir , until those headsets become much lighter like glasses then I will stick to VR

Too expensive (in many sense), I prefer trackir.

Prefer TrackIR for the moment as well. Weight doesn't bother me so much as I use a battery bank as a counterweight, but spotting/identification and reading cockpit displays is something I can't deal with in DCS using VR. Hell in the F-16 you may as well forget about using the MFDs.

Well, the Q2 is a medieval torture device, get a proper headset and it won't be a problem.
I literally can't use my Q2 after I got my Reverb G2, I can fly 4+ hours with my G2 no problem.

I also had HTC Vive same issue too heavy and worse as no wireless link

Vive is like super old VR tech by now. It's like comparing a Model T with Cadillac in comfort.

I use the Vive pro 2. I have no problems wearing it for 5 hours a time. I use a Hotas with plenty of buttons X-56 so lifting the headset is not needed. All said its down to YOUR preference not anyone else. Good luck with what ever you decide. DCS is a brilliant sim.

LOL
VR is superb. just need more frames per second. DCS isn't quite there imho.

If you mostly fly modern Jets VR is a nice to have but not essential. It's cool and great for immersion but TrackIR works really well and may even be preferable in some situations (reading MFDs for example) .

However, if you prefer to fly Helicopters (or old WW2-era planes) VR is an absolute game changer. VR gives you depth perception, which makes hovering a helo or deflection shooting a breeze. There is no way I am ever moving back to TrackIR for these types of aircraft.

At some point I will consider getting into VR but it will probably happen when the kind of horsepower that would really make it worthwhile isn't considered high-end anymore.

On top of that. I am still likely to stick with IR head tracking a lot of the time because I tend to keep a lot of notes, use my laptop for checklists/flight planning, and the like. That kind of stuff isn't really practical with a VR headset strapped to your head.

Sadly. I have a feeling that some of the usual suspects will come in here to aggressively preach the word of their VR deity to us poor, unfortunate lost souls.

I think vr is great. Haven't touched trackir in years. I have a G2 and find it one of the best performing vr sims, love it.

VR is the way to go for me. However, I have a Quest 2 and the headset will freeze up after 20 minutes or so worth flying. Can't seem to figure out what's going on but it's super annoying.
