Which jet(s)?

Depends on the plane, a surprising amount or relatively modern planes don't have them by default.
And in some you just choose. In the F16 you have yo choose between HADS helmet or night vision helmet and it has to be done in the mission editor.

should be N for multiple aircraft.

I fly the f18, I thought I had to get the ground crew to give me the NVGs.

None of those have NVG. You can turn on the cockpit lights "L"

BTW If you are met with IFR rules, you will be able to fly without any visual.

exactly. You don't need any visibility to fly - that is if you try to learn your stuff.
But since many players also come to dcs for arcade style gameplay, the question for night vision might be justified :)

I feel ye. It's a sim, though, so the only options are to learn how to use the tools at your disposal for night flying, or fly in daylight.

A goodway to learn how to fly at night is by flying at dusk so you can still sorta see and learn how to fly without nvgs then go to night after a few sessions I found that really helpfull

Thanks for the advice anyway fellas

At some point they changed how lighting works in the game, and the nights became much darker. The older missions and campaigns don't take that into account.

If you're playing a user made campaign or one of the default ones, you can change the date or time of the mission in the editor; literally just make it a daytime mission. If you still want the nighttime feel, you can change the date to whenever there is a full moon. Just make sure it's clear with no clouds. A full moon with a clear sky has decent visibility at night.

You can't edit a paid campaign, so you're out of luck on those.
