How hard is the Tomcat to get on the deck when compared to the Hornet? Are you sweating bullets the entire time? I have not tried it yet because the carrier ops are FUBAR with the server I play on right now as everyone and their mom wants to fly the F-14 and given it's a a naval plane problems are bound to happen.

IMO it is just a bit easier because you can control AoA by DLC spoilers (Direct Lift Control). When you are too fast you will raise spoilers bit more. When you need power, you retract them back. Those are much more effective than speed brake and the reaction is much faster than changing the throttle. The reaction is almost instant because those (like in its name) directly changes the lift. If you want, F-14 also have auto-throttle control for approach which holds "on speed" postition. It also have ACLS (automatic carrier landing system) So you can just let the autopilot to land your aircraft. But it needs to make propper approach and propper radios and datalink setup.

You can see in my trap sheet, none, the Autothrottle or ACLS is ticked. I did everything manually. It was CASE I landing.

I have yet to try the F-14. But if you are good with the current Naval planes like the Su 33 and the Hornet, then it won't be that hard. I mean its got all that modern HUD setup. So landing will be cinch.

It would be a challenge to land a Naval plan that has no Modern HUD and other gizmos, like the F-4 and the A1 skyraider to name a few. Imagine landing at Night...:steammocking: Those planes without the modern HUD. So far Leatherneck simulations have teased an F-8 Crusader, Yeah its one of those plane with old school HUD. You'll be sweating bullets then...

Practise on the Hornet and the Su 33. You'll get it. F-14 should be OK.

Oh... we've an expert here!
@george47mathew

Just install IL-1946 and try there to land with Corsair or with SBD-5 on carrier. IMO it is almost the same, just a bit slower approach. The all you need to know is just propper speed and glideslope. So all you need is good AoA or determined airspeed by landing charts and good rate of descent. That's all. In the times of LOMAC, the meatball was not simulated, The aircraft did not have total velocity vector, still it was quite easy to land that without navigation.

Just stop talking and show yourself ;-)

Already did that...many times in the Pacific campaigns. Its not as intricate as DCS.

That was a long time ago, though.

Its pitch black at night in DCS...almost blind, easy with night vision goggles. But without it is the challenge. Soon...we'll have the F-8.
Carrier has landing lights for night operations.
Cmon, stop talking and proof yourself.

Rather difficult to see in DCS night...unless you use goggles. I dont have a 4K monitor nor VR.

It does not illuminate much. Thus the modern HUD for me helps a lot.

You are just hypocrite.

So its insults now...How nice of you!

Different people different views. For some its easy, for others its hard.

All I said was its kinda tough with old school planes than with planes having modern HUD with info displayed. And that, it would be a good fun challenge with vintage planes in DCS. It was just the hype with the upcoming F-8. I don't see how I am suddenly a hypocrite here...

You seem very cranky. Bad day?...Oh well, just forget it.

Moderator, please, can you delete posts #3-#11 thx.
How do you get the coloured lines to appear on the trap sheet?

I get a wire box ticked but nothing else.
Automatically after touchdown. It works since yesterdays hotfix. Green means "on speed" AoA.
Hmm will try again
Sometimes, I think if your pattern is too short, it wont start recording.
