noob here, wondering which plane to buy for CAS gameplay

Just got this game yesterday and i already have a silly amount of hours considering its been two days. And i look forward to many more.

I want to buy a plane with some more (clickable)** buttons in the cockpit because the SU-25 seems really basic and i want to get a plane i really have to spend some time learning.

Any ideas? Thanks guys

Here's the skinny.

A-10C for pure CAS with the weapons focus being Maverick, LGB, JDAM (GPS bomb), dumb bombs (w/cluster), rockets, and BFG (Big F'n Gun)

AV8B Harrier for pure CAS with the weapons focus being Maverick, LGB, dumb bombs (w/cluster), rockets, and Sidearm (short range anti-radiation SEAD)

F-14 Tomcat for A2A/A2G with weapons focus being AIM-9, AIM-7, AIM-54, LGB, dumb bombs (w/cluster), and rockets.

This module is very incomplete, and thus hardly has any of this yet, but eventually it will be this:

F/A-18C Hornet for A2A/A2G with weapons focus being AIM-9(X), AIM-7, AIM-120, HARM (long range SEAD), Maverick, Harpoon/SLAM-ER (anti-ship/land attack), JSOW (stand off weapon), LGB, dumb bombs (w/cluster), and rockets

It's a matter of deciding what you want to do now vs later. The Hornet will eventually be the best multirole aircraft, and probably the best recommendation, but not for some time. If you actually want to play then choose one of the others.

Do keep in mind the F-14 A2G is very limited vs the other pure CAS aircraft, but it has excellent A2A, so it's a trade-off.

It has both dumb and guided bombs, it should also have guided and unguided rockets and A2G missiles right?

F-14 suck, only 4 GBU-12, no guided rockets, and actualy its more like prototype if you take lantirn.

@Zadoff you clearly know nothing about F-14s. They can carry extensive unguided bomb payloads (Up to 14x Mk82) and can also carry much larger guided munitions than a GBU-12 (Such as the GBU-10 and GBU-16), and the F-14B and D were also able to carry JDAMs.

A-10C all the way. The harrier is not a very good aircraft, considering that it's central station is dedicated to the gunpod and you have to adjust the trim every time you drop anything. A harrier can only carry 4 mavericks, while an A-10C can carry 6, plus 10 or so other bombs of your choice. It has grreat armor. I've taken 3 direct hits with a missiles and still safely landed the plane before. The main cannon has over 1000 rounds as well. The RWR is excellent and the countermeasures have automatic programs you can use if you feel like it. It's slow speed means that any aircraft that overshoots you will become an easy target for your AIM-9s.

you have to adjust the trim every time you drop anything.

From what I remember, activating the auto-pilot briefly perfects ur trim for you instantly.

Also primary reason why I would prefer harrier over A10 is 500kts vs 300kts speed. Hawg is slow. Only for the patient. its also vulnerable to AAA at low altitudes which can shred a wing off more often than not. Last time I played A10A I got taken out by T-72 Dshk :'(

If you've enjoyed what you have thus far, then I don't think you'll regret those purchases. They should give you the maximum playability online (at this time) too.

Heatblur F-14B don't have JDAM, and 4 guided bombs not enough.
