Pimax 8K: worth the cost?
Hi guys,

I have been playing DCS with Quest 2 which has a total resolution of 7,034,880 pixels (1832 x 1920 per eye).

Pimax 5K has a total resolution of 7,372,800 pixels (2560 x 1440 per eye), more horizontal pixels (wider FOV) but just ~5% more than Quest.

Pimax 8K as a total resolution of 16,588,800 pixels, wider FOV but just the headset costs (today @Amazon) ~$1600 and needs at least RTX 2080, another ~$1200!. On top of that another $400 for controllers = ~$3200! (I hope my i7-11700K is enough!)

Is a TON of money!

Is someone playing with Pimax 8K?
Can you share your experience?

Well im still stuck in 2019 playing on the Rift S. Had the G2 for a week but couldn't stomach WMR and returned it and went back to the S. I was seriously considering the Pimax but couldn't justify the cost giving the extra equipment that needs to be brought with it if you don't already have base stations and controllers. Im waiting on the 12k although it sounds to good to be true but well see.

Lucky you. Im stuck in 2017 with rift cv1. How is the eye distance, IPD, with the S? Is there a slider for it like on the cv1?

The S has no slider which was one of it's main complaints when it released. But the headset has since been discontinued. Technology is moving so fast and the new standard will be eye tracking and auto IPD adjustment.
