beware that the VR thing to click and move stuff are not properly supported on DCS ( you can try on the full fidelity free TF-51 on the free Caucasus map )
after discovering DCS with the two free plane, you may think about buying DLC planes : the most suggested for newbies interested in Air to air are the M2K ( very ergonomic and easy to learn) and the F-18-C ( more complex, with much more Air to ground abilities )
Everything else does. Do you know/understand what the FC3 planes are?
since you have VR, going to a full fidellity module is advised, if your VR thing to grab stuff don't work, just use the mouse
remember you don't have to buy ANYTHING to try and test how VR is handled on DCS
DCS comes free with 2 planes ( 1 attack plane, FC3 level, and 1 WW2 trainer, with full fidelity )
how is it possible to fully play in VR and use keyboard commands? or do you recomend buying clickable cockpit planes and use mouse?
That said, I, personally, still leave a few things on the keyboard. You don't have to, though. Just use a modifier button on your HOTAS and you're good to go.
i had a past in playing f16 falcon on amiga and falcon 4 on pc...long long days ago.... ;)
uhhhhhh..... debatable.
its easier to just read a chuck's guide to whatever airframe since it breaks it down. and IIRC thats where they get most of their information anyway.
Sounds like you've done that?
Chuck's guide covers everything and is an excellent resource. I, personally, have one certain "go to" resource when I need to know something quick. That's Laobi's YouTube channel with his one minute DCS videos. I'm way too impatient to sit through all the other guy's 20+ minute videos to remind myself which knobs need to be set where in the Viggen to use certain weapons lol. Which, technically, I just open up a Viggen Quick Weapons Guide I found online for that, but you get my point. 1 minute start ups without small talk in between everything and the history of the plane you're just trying to start up at that moment. To each their own, though...
Grim Reaper's got me into the game, so I hate to say anything bad, there... but thousands of hours later into the game, and I get aggravated watching them just get things wrong or do things poorly lol. But, that's not to say there isn't correct tutorials there. And I appreciate all of Cap's time consuming experiments.
Matt Wagner's YT Channel and Red Kite's YT Channel also come to mind for in depth tutorials. Ya typically can't go wrong with Wag's channels, it's usually gonna be the first one out showing tutorials for the newest updates and is usually straight to the point, it's just not quick edited like Laobi's, but it's my other go to. Red Kite talks too much, but, again, to each their own. You want a 45 minute start up tutorial? There ya go.
Eventually, it all just comes to you. FC3 is a good starting pack though, it teaches you the basics really well so you adjust easier to a full module. Enjoy
