Help: Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog joystick/throttle and TPR pedals issue (newbie problems)
Setup

Windows 10 /Steam (v019 package 15659180000)
Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Throttle/Joystick
Thrustmaster TPR pedals
DCS World Steam Edition with A-10C Warthog module
Thrustmaster 2018TMHW 1 application (firmware?)
Target v3018(328v2) application
TPR Calibration tool (v1.11)

Windows 10 control panel (Game controllers) show all 3 devices installed "OK" and going through the 'properties' tab for each correctly shows all buttons as functional.

Issue

I am a novice Steam/DCS World user and have only just bought the Thrustmaster devices as a present from me to me after retiring from work. I have never played any games before but always wanted to get a flight sim as a hobby; unfortunately I now find myself out of my depth in getting the Thrustmaster gear to work properly:

1. DCS World (A10c) will freeze/lock up when opened with the 3 x Thrustmaster USB control devices plugged in. If I then unplug them, reboot the computer and run DCS before plugging the joystick/throttle/pedals the A10c program will run ok.

2. When I run the A10c module only some of the main joystick/throttle controls function as expected (I can pitch and roll and throttle). The rudder pedals do not work at all and both brakes appear to be binded as roll left/right. All other minor switches do not appear to work or work but not as expected.

I have done my best to research the problem but am still stuck. Reading over the advice on the Reddit Hoggit site suggests that such issues can be resolved by:

- Clearing ALL key bind and axis
- Set up the basic controls only
- Start flying and then ..
- Add keybindings when you work out what you need

https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/6ysjbg/having_problems_with_rudder_setup_on_dcs/

This advice even suggests removing all Thrustmaster software as it just complicates matters.

3. I have been able to 'clear' all bindings by launching the DCS and going to 'settings' and deleting every entry under the joystick/throttle and TPR heading. I did notice that MANY of the binding were duplicates. Problem is I havnt a clue how to assign new bindings (I don’t know if that is even the correct terminology)

To be fair I invested in the Thrustmaster gear thinking it would work for the A10c Warthog module 'straight out of the box'.

Questions:

1. Are the joystick/throttle and pedal USB controllers only meant to be plugged in after launching DCS or do I have a problem before I even run A10c?
2. I am confused between keybinds and access controls; whats the difference?
3. When I go to DCS settings and click 'Controls' most options appear 'greyed' out. I can delete all the entries under the Joystick/Thrust and Pedal columns but havnt a clue how to assign the proper controls.

All thoughts/suggestions/advice and comments are welcomed. I know this is probably straight forward for most but I am completely stuck now. I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling DCS to see if that resolved things but a 30Gb download later im still stuck.

Thanks all, Bob the Pensioner :-)

1. plugging in before should not have any problems. if it's working for you then fair enough
2. keybinds are for switches such as master arm. axis controls are like roll axis on the stick
think of keybinds as something that toggles on/off and axis as something that has a range of movement
3. to remap the controls find the control you want in the list then double click the box for that control under the column of the controller you want it on. you will get a dialog box. press whatever switch you want or move whatever axis until you see the binding box fill. rinse and repeat then hit ok to close the controls menu to save the bindings

First try contact ED support team.

only A-10? Su-25 and TF-51 is fine or not?
TM warthog is out of box experience on A-10C module. not problem so for me at all.

as long as it detect the correct "device name". if it match the preset, it will load preset automatically
If it not detect the device in proper way:
1. Do you run target or target script? the target will hide TM physical USB from system, a combined virtual device will popup as virtual USB gamecontroller interface. the preset did not support combind thrustmaster device.

2.Did you disable "Steam controller" in steam? it will hijack original input.

Did you check the DCS.log? it logs and contains input device info and changes. and errors. you should check that for clues.

About app no responding.
Do you have other USB devices that possibly drain all USB bus? If USB controller is busy, the USB IRQ may not respond properly and freeze everything that try communicate with USB. If there is an uncompatible issue with your motherboard, usually you can reproduce the same problem on other games or software. if ture try contract your MB support and joystick support.

DCS is hotplug-able on most input devices include TIR. you can try plug it after into the game.

And contact ED support team.
