What graphic options to turn off to improve performance?
I've got a new PC with a 3080TI, 5090CPU and 32gig RAM. The game is installed on a fast SSD. I'm using a TrackIR as well (don't know if that affects performance?)

I set the graphics options to high and am running at 4K. I've got a 48" monitor, so would probably notice a resolution drop.

I know the game needs a zimmer frame, so I'm not complaining about it's performance, but I want to know what options should I turn down to improve performance. In my case, the game is butter smooth for 1-2 seconds then it appears to lag/stop moving and repeats this.

I'd like to buy some of the aircraft modules, but I want to sort out the lagging first.

What map/module are you using when you get these hitches? Playing solo?

This is a great question, because if you are going to fly rota then ground scenery is going to important. But if fast jet then you can get rid of most of that.

1, View distance big FPS change
2, Sea quality take it down to what you can bare.
3, Shadows ( kick them in the nut's till they are flat) :)
4, pre-load radius try changing that from one end of the slider to the other.

Hope this helps.

I'd like to add grass densitiy and tree visuals, as well as antialiasing. In the end DCS is very CPU heavy 'cause it only uses two cores. So it's best to leave graphic settings as high as possible for the GPU to do most of the work instead of letting the CPU having to handle with graphics as well.

As I understand it, since the release of version 2.7, DCS is now able to recognise and make use of as many cores as a CPU has available, hence the more cores your CPU has the better performance in DCS now?

Antialiasing

There must be something very wrong somewhere in your settings because I run the game at very high settings on an old i7 and 1080ti with no problems at all. Did you set unlimited frame rate? If you did, go in and put a limit in there. Once it hits it, it can allocate resources to other things.

If you're playing pancake you should be more than fine with the hardware you have. If you're playing VR, MSAA and shadows are a good thing to turn down.

Thanks for all the answers.

I think it's the Georgia map (I don't own any paid content currently). I'm more interested in low and slow, so helicopters and ground attack aircraft are my preference.

I'm playing single player.

I'll try some of the options and see how it goes.

Do you run it at 4K?

Well I tried all the suggestions given (individually) and nothing changed.

With the high preset I get about 100 FPS, when I capped the game at 64fps (I did that via a cfg file, I assume that's how it's done), the issue got worse.

I turned trackir off as well, but no change.

The frame rate tool shows Video mem: of 0.00mb. Is this how much is available?

Just to set my expectations, does anyone else get this "stuttering" effect every couple of seconds. Just want to make sure the game doesn't work like this all the time.

Check if hot plug is turned on. If it is, turn it off. Its on the bottom right in control settings.

It wasn't as bad as yours, but I had a stuttering issue a few years ago. Disabling the hotplug feature mostly fixed it. No idea if it will work for you, but worth a shot:

It was turned on. I turned it off, but sadly no change. Thanks for the suggestion

Do you use Wallpaper Engine? If yes pause it while you are playing DCS.

There's no way you're running that setup in 4K...
