Tbh, I think the ka50 would be the "easier" of the 2 to control as it relies on alot of autopilot systems whereas the Hind is a bit more old skool afaik.
You could try out the hind and the ka50 for free on the standalone, perhaps?
Anyway, no matter what you will choose, do the next stuff that is very important for any helicopter if you don't have a joystick with force feedback and if you don't have a pedals.
Go to a special options in the settings menu, choose your helicopter and choose a "Trim with back to center" from a dropdown list. This option will allow you to trim your helicopter as intended. So after pressing a trim button, the simulator will stop to react to your joystick's inputs until you back it to center. So basically, the in-game helicopter's stick will remain in the trimmed position. If you will not choose this option, the in-game, helicopter's stick will react to your last joystick's input and you will not be able to trim the helicopter properly. As a result, your flight will not be smooth.
Also, you have to enable the "Rudder trim" checkbox. So you won't need to hold the twist of your joystick all the time, which is very hard. When you will press trim button, the in-game pedals will be trimmed. It can help alot with using the unguided missiles. Because using them while holding the twist is nearly impossible, you will not hit anything.
☝
Twist axis will work fine on both, so that shouldn't be a factor.
You'll have to decide which one you prefer, but if you're interested in my opinion, I'd get the ka50.
Ka50 has shkval + vikhrs, I like to think of it as a static su25, can simply hover ~8km away from the objective and start picking off targets (even armored vehicles), just outside the range of shorads.
Hind has no vikhrs and no shkval. Shturm missiles have shorter range and the sight is utter garbage when compared to the shkval camera.
Basically, it can't engage shorads (avengers, chaparrals, strelas, manpads, etc.) outside their engagement range, unlike the ka50.
Hind is like an armored version of the mi8 with more punch, you need to get close and personal in order to kill stuff, which is pretty much suicide, specially for a helo.
15 day trial period for each module is activated via DCS website profile.
Download DCS standalone and create a DCS account on the website (if you haven't already):
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/
Once you have an account, you can either click on the "FREE TO PLAY" yellow button or on the "Profile" blue link (upper right side).
You'll see a "Licensing" section on the lower left corner of your profile window, just select "Trial licenses" and hit "GO".
After that, you'll get a list of all modules with the "TRY" yellow button, the rest is self explanatory.
I enjoy the hind as I enjoy every help besides the Huey. I like that each have their own quirks. For me it all comes down to gameplay. The Gaz is my favorite because you have to honestly work the hardest to get kills(Lima version).
I care less about the hind because of petrovich. Once I realized that he's doing the heavy work of taking out targets it dropped a level for me.
I like the juggling act of the ka-50 a lot more than the point and click action of the hind. I just felt like the hind was the mi-8 with AGTM's. I didn't really feel like it was much better or different from the mi-8 and I would prefer to utilize the mi-8 over the hind.
So it really didn't impress me in regards to what it can do as a role. I really enjoy flying her but like the gaz and ka-50 they have very distinct abilities and I they're my main because of that.
What seperates one module from another for me is the moment to moment gameplay. I feel like the hind and hip have the same gameplay where as the ka-50 is distinctly different as well as more efficient as a attack role.
If I'm in need of attack I'm going 50. If I want a utility helo I'm going mi-8.
You and everyone else 😅
Same will happen when the eurofighter comes out... hornet and viper will cease to exist for me 🤣
The coaxial rotor system is unique and when I first got the module, I struggled to learn to fly her. Most of the time on autopilot so, I turned into a sniper attacking from a distance. I was amazed one time watching an old YouTube video seeing stunt maneuvers in the Ka-50.

The coaxial rotor system is a very good system for safety and having the ejection seat, very unique for helicopters and survivability.

Flying her in VR has taken my skills to the next level. I’m hardly ever in auto anymore, unless I’m in a hover for sniping. The ABRIS I prefer keeping Arc on, instead of the moving map and much easier to stay on course when not using autopilot. Flying the Ka-50, most of the time I’m in Autopilot Director Control and I release the trimmer only if I’m getting too much force on the joystick or want to set my course (best way to release trimmer, pitch nose up a bit before releasing so your not jumping all over the place). I’m going to start flying more at night and bad weather and will be using autopilot more for that.
When the Apache Longbow is out, I will be getting that for sure and the Blackshark 3. Flying helicopters in VR is an unbelievable experience and I do believe VR is the future for flight sims.
