Can't fire the gun on the A-10A... also do it's switchs move?
So I spent 10 hours exploring the free version and just got the A-10A sim... anything works fine but weapon fire... I can switch to gun mode with C then space bar does nothing. On the dash the master arm is on but the weapon dial does not move when I switch weapons is that normal? I know I can't click on them but really DCS? X-plane 9 had that feature.

Check the controls and change the key. Mine was first bound to Left Alt+Space, changed it to E and the ECM to Left Alt+Space. If you select the outer armaments, these are the unguided missiles, fire at will, they need no tracking, so you can check if the weapon system is loaded. If you press press C by mistake, the gun comes up with an different reticle. Gun is Space, wing armamentsare Left Alt+Space. Guided missile needs a target, UGB's can be dropped everywhere, unguided missiles launching from the small pods. Your main gun is always active in engage mode, so no need to switch. You can check if you are launching something with the 3rd person cam, just press F2 and drop something.

Found out what I was doing wrong is believe navigational modes meant all HUD modes... DCS why not a all HUB switcher? Now even in the correct mode I can't switch from my gun to missiles...
As I am learning the A10 as well, you need to switch the weapons, default is D key I think. Press 7 to leave Nav Mode. When you press C, you'll see that you reticle changes to a big circle, that is your cannon, press it again to switch to your previous selected weapon system. Inside the cockpit, you'll see some buttons lighting up when you change weapons, these are marked the same as your attached weapons and missiles on your wings and lower body.

If you see the small monitor lighting up inside the cockpit, you have selected the guided missiles. Point at a target with the monitor reticle, lock on and then fire.

You should turn the flight model and overall behaviour to arcade first. The general tutorial with the SU-25T is also helpful.

I am currently 10H in and still learning to fly the plane and haven't participated in combat yet.

Thanks and I got the guns working the issues is now even when I change the HUD to AA mode the only with the wvey V sight, the Com lady and the wobbly nose. with 6 default key then press D with only a side winders loaded it does not switch off the gun... Which the tutorial for DCS A-10C is the reason why I used it less then DCS world...

As to the flight model I made a mission for the P-51 trainer defending 3 reaper drones from a Foxbat and was able to do it by dodging him though the tree like an Apache AH...

Most of the issues I'm having are the odd wording the keybindings have and getting used to having to press buttons for anything... like switch to a HUD then to gun then fire the gun most sims don't have that level of detail... most are switch weapon and fire.

Just read the manual, it will save your time.
All the manuals can be found in:
[Your steam instalation folder]\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\[The name of your aircraft or "Flaming cliffs"]\Doc\

It may sounds boring to seat and read the manuals, but this is the fastest way to learn your aircraft. With youtube videos you will spend much more time learning the aircraft and you will not learn everything, because youtube videos just don't have all the info. For "Flaming cliffs 3" aircrafts like A-10A, F-15C, e.t.c. the controls are almost identical. So if you will read a manual for one aircraft, you will be able to control them all. You will just have to quickly read the manual of other FC3 plane to sharpen attention on some details that are differs a little bit. So read the manuals and create your own missions in "Mission editor" to practice what you learned.

Yeah, I've reworked the bindings for me. The A-10A is oldschool. Almost everything is manually operated. The Frogfoot is a bit lighter to handle in regards of the systems.

Will learn to fly my desired planes first the arcade way and then switch to fly with my HOTAS to get a better feeling. Just change the settings to arcade, launch a quick mission and give yourself no tasks so you can get a nice feeling. If you go for the guided missiles, you can press right ALT+F11 to automatically target a enemy unit and then launch a ATGM. Right Alt+F9 targets the nearest in sight ground target. When you are familiar enough with the controls, you can manually adjust and aim at targets with your camera. You can control it with the buttons next to your right Shift.

The planes in the Flaming Cliffs 3 package are imo just to get the feel of it. Learn to fly and such stuff. Will later go on in VR and HOTAS with a more detailed plane.

I am currently into starting up and requesting take off and stuff. Weapon systems will be my next task.

When I need to let off some steam, I am changing the settings to "Godmode" and just let it rain on the enemy. Still fun.

Trust me I read my Mustang's manual cover to cover a dozen times before buying it... this is something a Manuel unless really well done which the DCS tutorials are some of the worse in the industry... it can't really help with.

Yeah... IR missiles are different when they scream you shot them the issue is their screaming the AI is complaining that I have not shot and I'm frustrated because I can only fire my gun no matter how many time I press D... Meanwhile I can just bout up IL 1946 fly the modded F-18 and become and Ace in a day because things just work and that's also a sim.

Mustang manuals and A-10A manuals are not the same.
First of all A-10A is a plane from "Flaming cliff 3" pack. The "Flaming cliffs 3" pack includes all low fidelity planes "A-10A", "F-15C", "Su-25", "Su-27", "Su-33", "MiG-29A", "MiG-29S", "MiG-29G", "J-11A". As I already said, all these planes are low fidelity, their avionics and weaponary controls systems are simplified. The weapons usage are simplified as well. The only realistic thing they have are their flight model. So the controls of all of these aircrafs are very unique.
As an example A-10C is a high fidelity plane and it have clickable cockpits, as well as F/A-18C, F-14A/B, F-16C, MiG-21BIS, e.t.c.. All aircrafts except of the "Flaming cliffs 3" package are high fidelity and have clickable cockpit and realisticaly simulated systems and realistic flight model.
So read the manuals for A-10A, it is 130 -140 pages only. A-10C have about 700 pages manuals.
And don't use the training missions. Create your own missions for training in Mission editor, it is very simple to use fro simple missions creation.

Also the frogfoot needs to have a clearance to shot there Gun old soviet doctrine... I normally get gun kills at their extreme range so I can never do well in it...that and that thing needs a parachute to land and the key binding are not meant for anything outside having a keyboard on your lap at all times even with a $500 HOTAS... And I just got a PS5 controller and an old Satik if I feel like it. How ever I was able to camp the A-10s base in the dogfight mission that was fun.

Yeah just read the Manuel and like the in-game encyclopedia it's just a bunch of re formatted Wikipedia arcticals... Might be nice in a Ace Combat data section but in no way does it tell me how to fire a sidewinder much less what I am doing wrong to not be able to switch from my gun to IR missile racks.

Everything is described in manuals. This game is not "War thunder" and it is not "Ace combat". This game have nothing with arcade simulators, it is the most realistic modern aircraft simulator. All the manuals are created by devs and it is not a reformated data from wikipedia. For example, the reason that there is no F-22, F-35, Su-57, e.t.c. aircrafts in this game is because each aircraft are created using the real aircraft's systems specification charts. The most modern aircrafts are to classified and devs can't simulate them in a proper way. The reason for all russian aircrafts have only low fidelity model is because devs can't get the system specification charts for russian aircrafts because it is illegal in russian federation.

So the planes in this game are not just a 3D models of the planes. Even the low fidelity planes have realistic flight models. The game world have a simulation of athmosphere. To consume fuel you have to fly higher because the atmosphere here are thinner. To launch missile to a longer distances, you have to launch it from a higher altitude, because the atmosphere is thinner on high altitudes.
To make a missile evade maneuver, you have to learn the air to air battle tactics. This game is nothing like "Ace combat". "Ace combat" is just a shooter, DCS World is the most realistic air combat simulator currently on the market. So to play it you have to learn the aircraft like a real pilot do.

What? Like me be blunt... I know you get these questions alot but you don't have to be anger or rude about and insult me ok? I have already the skills and knowledge needed as I have told you earlier I'm not a new simer I am not new to combat aviation.

I came here for a game spefic answer do you know it or not? If not go be toxic to someone else.

Don't get me wrong dude but this isn't helpful. I think we know that this is a simulator and not just an arcade game. Be helpful. Of course, everyone wants to toy around first and then get to the deeper core.

So instead of just praising the realism and it is not a game, be helpful and just answer some stuff where you can help with e.g. "If you want to launch a missile, target the enemy first and then press the launch key and keep it pressed until the missile launches". I am not that familiar with this simulator and can't help that much, you seem to be tenured enough to help, so please just do so.

Thanks and that was helpful to check if I having missiles selected. however I am not that far as the issues I am having is my gun fires instead of a missile and no matter if I hold or press D the switch key it won't switch weapons. And I have no idea if it's a bug, I'm doing something wrong etc.
