If you see the small monitor lighting up inside the cockpit, you have selected the guided missiles. Point at a target with the monitor reticle, lock on and then fire.
You should turn the flight model and overall behaviour to arcade first. The general tutorial with the SU-25T is also helpful.
I am currently 10H in and still learning to fly the plane and haven't participated in combat yet.
Thanks and I got the guns working the issues is now even when I change the HUD to AA mode the only with the wvey V sight, the Com lady and the wobbly nose. with 6 default key then press D with only a side winders loaded it does not switch off the gun... Which the tutorial for DCS A-10C is the reason why I used it less then DCS world...
As to the flight model I made a mission for the P-51 trainer defending 3 reaper drones from a Foxbat and was able to do it by dodging him though the tree like an Apache AH...
Most of the issues I'm having are the odd wording the keybindings have and getting used to having to press buttons for anything... like switch to a HUD then to gun then fire the gun most sims don't have that level of detail... most are switch weapon and fire.
All the manuals can be found in:
[Your steam instalation folder]\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\[The name of your aircraft or "Flaming cliffs"]\Doc\
It may sounds boring to seat and read the manuals, but this is the fastest way to learn your aircraft. With youtube videos you will spend much more time learning the aircraft and you will not learn everything, because youtube videos just don't have all the info. For "Flaming cliffs 3" aircrafts like A-10A, F-15C, e.t.c. the controls are almost identical. So if you will read a manual for one aircraft, you will be able to control them all. You will just have to quickly read the manual of other FC3 plane to sharpen attention on some details that are differs a little bit. So read the manuals and create your own missions in "Mission editor" to practice what you learned.
Will learn to fly my desired planes first the arcade way and then switch to fly with my HOTAS to get a better feeling. Just change the settings to arcade, launch a quick mission and give yourself no tasks so you can get a nice feeling. If you go for the guided missiles, you can press right ALT+F11 to automatically target a enemy unit and then launch a ATGM. Right Alt+F9 targets the nearest in sight ground target. When you are familiar enough with the controls, you can manually adjust and aim at targets with your camera. You can control it with the buttons next to your right Shift.
The planes in the Flaming Cliffs 3 package are imo just to get the feel of it. Learn to fly and such stuff. Will later go on in VR and HOTAS with a more detailed plane.
I am currently into starting up and requesting take off and stuff. Weapon systems will be my next task.
When I need to let off some steam, I am changing the settings to "Godmode" and just let it rain on the enemy. Still fun.
First of all A-10A is a plane from "Flaming cliff 3" pack. The "Flaming cliffs 3" pack includes all low fidelity planes "A-10A", "F-15C", "Su-25", "Su-27", "Su-33", "MiG-29A", "MiG-29S", "MiG-29G", "J-11A". As I already said, all these planes are low fidelity, their avionics and weaponary controls systems are simplified. The weapons usage are simplified as well. The only realistic thing they have are their flight model. So the controls of all of these aircrafs are very unique.
As an example A-10C is a high fidelity plane and it have clickable cockpits, as well as F/A-18C, F-14A/B, F-16C, MiG-21BIS, e.t.c.. All aircrafts except of the "Flaming cliffs 3" package are high fidelity and have clickable cockpit and realisticaly simulated systems and realistic flight model.
So read the manuals for A-10A, it is 130 -140 pages only. A-10C have about 700 pages manuals.
And don't use the training missions. Create your own missions for training in Mission editor, it is very simple to use fro simple missions creation.
So the planes in this game are not just a 3D models of the planes. Even the low fidelity planes have realistic flight models. The game world have a simulation of athmosphere. To consume fuel you have to fly higher because the atmosphere here are thinner. To launch missile to a longer distances, you have to launch it from a higher altitude, because the atmosphere is thinner on high altitudes.
To make a missile evade maneuver, you have to learn the air to air battle tactics. This game is nothing like "Ace combat". "Ace combat" is just a shooter, DCS World is the most realistic air combat simulator currently on the market. So to play it you have to learn the aircraft like a real pilot do.
I came here for a game spefic answer do you know it or not? If not go be toxic to someone else.
So instead of just praising the realism and it is not a game, be helpful and just answer some stuff where you can help with e.g. "If you want to launch a missile, target the enemy first and then press the launch key and keep it pressed until the missile launches". I am not that familiar with this simulator and can't help that much, you seem to be tenured enough to help, so please just do so.
