Difference between su-25t and su-25
What is the difference between the free su-25t and then su-25 that you can buy as an DLC?

Su-25: standard ground attack.
Su-27T: anti-tank optimized version.

Hi. The difference is also in the avionics. The SU-25T has much more modern avionics. The SU-25(A) has only very simple HUD with the pipper only and the "steam gauges"

Also the SU-25T was only the prototype. There existed only 11 aircrafts in total.

The SU-25T has modern HUD which shows data like artificial horizon, altitude, speed, waypoint e.t.c.... SU-25T also has the SKHVAL targeting system. It can carry the passive radar guided weapons and the passive radar locator (phantasmagoria system) those are good for SEAD missions. (just like HARM missiles in the US/NATO side)

The SU-25(A) is a bit lighter and faster.

About the history of those aircrafts in DCS: The first one was the "Lock On: Modern air combat" game with the SU-25A in it. Later the datadisc called "flamming cliffs" added the SU-25T. After the release of DCS:World the ED decided to release the SU-25T as the free addon and the SU-25A as the payed addon.

Thank you Troll Norris, for such complete explanation. I had both LockOn and FC2 and never flew those two airplanes, until now with the free game.
@HaYsT

Su-25A is included in Flaming Cliffs 3 (just like the F-15C, MiG29, Su-27, Su-33 and A-10A), you'll be paying twice as much for it if you buy it separately (same goes for the rest of FC3 aircraft)

As for the differences between the Su-25A and the Su-25T, there are several:

- Su-25T has a laser + tv targeting system (Shkval), unlike the Su-25A, which only has the laser.
- Su-25T can carry external targeting pods as well (IR and SEAD pods)
- Su-25T can carry a wider variety of ordinance (unguided, laser-guided, tv-guided, anti-radiation)
- Su-25T has a "modern" HUD, unlike the Su-25A, which only has a visor with a reticle,
- Su-25T has a built-in "IR jammer" and can also carry ECM pods.
- Su-25T is basically better in all aspects, except for speed.
