I only own the Jeff and I can only comment on it. It's really nice. Can do a lot of things but is still very intuitive to use. It will fit nicely between the hornet and mirage for you. Many quality of life improvements squeezed in there. The big mfcds are actually very convenient to use and not complex. The menus are not miles deep. The SA page has everything in one place which is really nice.

It can put the fear of God into pretty much any module it faces in a dogfight except maybe the f14 but that plane is hard to master with the old avionics. In BVR, the SD10s are literally game changing as they made Ed change the 120s and you can carry 4 of them 2 more than mirage but about half of hornet. The BRM-1s are the most exciting air to ground weapon I've seen yet. Jeff can take up to 64! of these 8km range rockets, fire them one by one if needed and guide them with the targeting pod. Each one can wreck a tank last I checked. It's almost like a hornet taking 64 mavericks. Ridiculous. You can even use em for air to air against slow moving targets as long as your tgp grabs them.

The shortcomings include inefficient afterburner, carries less payload and slightly underpowered engine. You won't be winning many dogfights going vertical. You also have to choose your role before you take off. You cant have some things together that hornet or f16 can have. For example you can't have both data link and targeting pod. One or the other or the jamming pod.

Overall though it's a bloody amazing module.

You may even land it on a carrier cuz it has a drag chute. haters will say its unrelistic.

Guess I'll balance it out as a Viper pilot. The Fighting Falcon in this game is from the 80s and ended production in the early 2000s. It shows in the cockpit. It has two multifunction displays but many components are still analog. That said it is the block 50 so it does have modern capabilities, but those modern capabilities are stacked on decades old hardware. Attaching the Lightning pod essentially doubles the computing power of the bird.

That said however, it's blessing and curse is the turning capability. If you hit the 350-400knt sweetspot it should out turn literally everything. It turns & burns and shoots & scoots. The downside is it essentially was over invested in this one niche so its weapon and fuel capacity suffers.

Essentially what I'm getting at is the Falcon is about working with polarities. It's old and has an old way of doing things, but it keeps getting new stuff tacked on that keep it relevant. It's unmatched in areas of its strength but clearly outmatched in areas that aren't its strength. I preordered it as I'm coming over from FSX. It launched pretty raw tbh and really needed more time to cook. That said ED has been doing a surprisingly good job adding in features. It already feels mature compared to the janky thing I got on launch. It still has some things missing but if progress continues at this rate it shouldn't be a big deal.

I have both modules and both are good, however to clarify some points already stated. The JF-17 can carry the same amount of weapons as the f-16, except the f-16 has one extra spot for the targeting pod that’s it, but that has it disadvantages with masking but there are tricks to over come this and isn’t actually a big issue. However the JF-17 can carry it under the belly or on wings however under the belly avoids most masking situations. The JF-17 can also carry a bucket load of very powerful laser guided rockets meaning it has more ground attack laser guided capability then every module put together, The JF-17 always has data link, the data link pod is only required for the man in the loop cruise missile which you can guide in yourself as if it’s a drone being controlled from your cockpit (lots of fun and the only module with it)

It doesn’t have the power of the f-16 but hardly any module does, I can only think of the F-14 and F-15 the come close. But the JF-17 is a very potent dog fighter no matter what module you’re the opponent is in. The only aircraft I find is really hard to dog fight against in the JF-17 is the F-14.

But I would say if you like air to air the F-16 is better but if you want ground pounding more or multi role more the the JF-17 IMO is much better expecially with it weapons and targeting systems Plus has better fuel endurance.

I didn’t put too many good things about the F-16 but I thinks it mostly due to it lacking a lot of features however they are coming and it is a lot of fun hammering at top speeds.

Thanks for clarifying my misconception about the data link. I mostly fly solo so didn't look at it that carefully. Hope the manual is released soon.

I also thought the same thing but I found out it wasn’t the fact from somewhere I can’t even remember lol.

Thanks for the replies, i went ahead and got the JF-17 what with it being the more complete module and more to my tastes, so far i'm loving it more than the F18, love the 3 up front MFCD's and so far its been really easy to learn
