DCS World Steam Edition
Hosting Sever with IPv6
Hello,

i want to host a sever. With my good glass fibre connection this should not be a problem. Sadly, our entire town got glass fibre with ipv6 instead of ipv4.

Good point, this is very future oriented but the bad point is that i have no real public ipv4 address. If i watch on whatsismyip.com he shows me the same ip i share with a lot of people in my village.

So big question, is it still possible to host a server? I tried it but my server does not appear on the browser.

I read somewhere that i have to do firewall rules (For testing i killed my pc firewall) and port forwarding. Before i do this complicated stuff i just want to know if its worth trying.

Thanks for your help!

Clawhammer you will most likley have to do some port forwarding on your hardware itself (router)

port 10308 would need to be open so that people could connect, changing software firewall on your PC doesn't bypass the hardware firewall on your router... assuming its on.
You can't do any port forwarding with IPv6. You WAN-IPv4 (if you have DS-Lite) is not unique to your router, therefore routing any traffic via ports won't get you anywhere.

I have the same issue and currently looking for a solution. Thus the closest I have come is to have server outside my network that can be contacted via IPv4 and routes to my IPv6 machine. Any help for easier solutions is very appreciated!
So it's just not possible to host games that need to have ports open with an IPv6 (DSlite) connection?
No, because DCS doesn't support connecting to an IPv6. I went for calling my provider and convincing him to give me an IPv4, because I need it for work (VPN requires it for most cases as well).

You will need any IPv4 tunel. Maybe some VPN.
